A stunning little property full of character and charm, attached to the owners’ cottage yet still very private. Set in the beautiful countryside just outside the traditional seaside resort of Bridlington, is this quaint little cottage which used to be the blacksmith’s forge. The cottage is delightful and has been restored to a good standard yet keeping lots of original features including the original forge which is now home to the multi-fuel burner. The bellows sit in the corner, reminding you of the cottage’s original purpose to shoe the horses which came from the local farmers or the stately homes that surround the area. The open plan kitchen/lounge leads through to the beautifully presented bedroom with its French doors which lead out to the terrace and shared garden. A perfect getaway for couples, this cottage is a great base to see the coast, the North Yorkshire Moors and the Wolds.

The town of Bridlington is just three miles away with its long sandy beaches and busy working harbour, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. The famous Spa theatre has shows on throughout the year. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars in Bridlington, or why not eat at one of the village pubs nearer to the cottage?

If you enjoy stately homes, there are plenty within a short drive, including Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall, Sewerby Hall and Castle Howard. For the walkers amongst you, the Yorkshire Wolds has some of the best walks through the hidden valleys and sleepy little villages. The Wolds have been made famous by David Hockney’s paintings. He was inspired by the beautiful countryside of the Wolds, yet it still remains a very quiet and unspoilt area of Yorkshire.

The cottage is well placed to visit Flamborough Head, Filey, Scarborough and even Whitby, as well as the little villages dotted along the country roads with their duck ponds and stone cottages. The city of York is less than an hour away and it is well worth a visit. The striking minster stands proud in the centre and is one of the largest cathedrals in Europe. Visit the Shambles with its cobbled streets and overhanging timber framed buildings with little alleyways and interesting shops. Shop 1½ mile, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Everything you could wish for. Well equipped, spotless and a lovely hamper to greet you. We enjoyed sitting in the garden with our drinks after a day out or just relaxing in the sun. Chris and Dave were very caring which was much appreciated. We are happy to highly recommend this cottage.

Enjoyed the cottage but you need to travel to Scarborough for any amenities

Whilst the cottage is immaculate, the road noise is horrendous. The owners are welcoming and really nice, the cottage very comfortable and clean. It is a shared garden with the owners which is a bit off putting when you know they are in the house , but some wont mind this!

Response on behalf of the owner; This guest stayed at our cottage when unfortunately Bridlington council were carrying out extensive road works on the A164 road, adjacent to Eastfield Lane and the hospital which resulted in excessive traffic being diverted down the B1253 and past our cottage. In addition to this the B1253 was resurfaced the same week, which again increased the noise levels due to the loose chippings. We have put a huge amount of money and effort to ensure our cottage is as perfect as it can be for all our guests and take special efforts to ensure our guests have a wonderful holiday from the moment they walk in to the moment they leave, but unfortunately we have no control over Bridlington council's timings on road works or road repairs. I have noted that one or two other guests have commented on the traffic noise and as such we have decided to fit secondary double glazing to all windows, which I have on good authority will reduce external noise by at least 80%.

The cottage was superb. The level of cleanliness, attention to detail and overall presentation was outstanding. The facilities in the cottage were of great quality and the range of storage and cooking/ food preparation equipment was more than adequate. The foul weather when we were there necessitated lighting the wood burner and this was also excellent. There are some lovely walks in the vicinity and the beach is only a fifteen minute drive away. One point worth noting is the adjacent B-road from Rudston to Bridlington, which can be busy in the morning and evening rush hours, but outside those times it is quiet enough

Absolutely brilliant! Chris is a wonderful host and the property is spotlessly clean, very well equipped and full of period features. Highly recommended.
