Rurally located, guests can experience the spectacular scenery of the River Tamar from this property, on the Devon/Cornwall border.

This delightful cosy holiday cottage is situated in the picturesque little village of Horsebridge in the beautiful Tamar Valley on the banks of the River Tamar and is the perfect couples retreat. Adjacent to the owners’ home, The Old Forge has a pretty and well-furnished interior with a lovely light living area that opens into a sunny rear garden, the perfect spot for breakfast whilst you plan your day. As the name implies, this cottage was formerly the forge and stable for travellers stopping off at the inn. The long stone bridge at Horsebridge dates back to the 1400s. This delightful village is right on the Devon/Cornwall border making it ideal to tour this stunning area. There are lovely walks along the Tamar Valley Discovery Trail from the doorstep and why not stop off at the 15th century Royal Inn in the village where Charles I is reputed to have visited during the civil war. It is an ideal spot for some liquid refreshment after a walk or an evening meal after a day out exploring. Horsebridge is in a superb location from which you can explore the wider region, and there is a great selection of restaurants within a short drive or why not visit the historic market towns of Tavistock and Launceston. There are several National Trust properties in the area and lots of interesting places to visit close by. The area has golf, fishing and horse riding available nearby. Beach 22 miles. The Old Forge is a Gem of a Cottage, Nic and Lance are to be congratulated on its presentation and facilities.

Very pleased with the overall standard of the cottage. Lovely place to stay with or without a dog. Lance and Nic have got it just right. Very friendly but not intrusive. I would definately recommend this cottage and would definately stay there again. Plenty of walks nearby with plenty of information supplied at the cottage. Lovely wetroom and a perfectly adequate kitchen catering for your every need. Lots of little extras which you might need. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely dog friendly pub next door. Good food and nice friendly landlord. Locals also very friendly. Peaceful location with no noise from the pub. Only downside is no local shop and narrow lanes to get to property. But this would not put us off going again. Highly recommend!!

Lovely cottage situated in a beautiful, quaint village, alongside the River Tamar. Perfect for exploring Dartmoor, Devon, Cornwall... Added bonus of a fantastic, independent pub 2 doors down. Despite the rural setting, it's only 10 minutes to the nearest shop (Tesco). Very easy to get to the beautiful town of Tavistock. We will return :-)

We had a great stay here. Great location and great pub and great for the dog with a safe enclosed garden. The hosts Nic and Lance were wonderful. The cottage area may be small but they have got all the rooms tastefully furnished that makes it very homely. I would highly recommend. It is out of the way but thats what makes it so peaceful and your only 10 mins from the shops in Callington. We took eggs but don't has the house across from the Forge sells free range. Lots of nearby walks for your pooch.

Another wonderful stay at The Old Forge. This cottage has everything you need and more! The owners are very helpful and friendly. Even on bad weather days this cottage is the perfect place to stay inside and relax with an array of games, dvds and books having been provided. The location is extremely rural which is great for a quiet getaway but if you are visiting Cornish or Devon coastal towns your looking at around a 30/60 minute drive.
