I would have appreciated more written information on rubbish collection and recycling as the owner was away when we arrived. On the whole it was well situated and contained all we required.

We enjoyed our stay in a comfortable cottage/barn conversion. The cottage has excellent views of the country side on the out skirts of Knockin village. We were greeted by a lovely hamper / starter pack with essentials plus wine and cake. A lovely base for our exploration of the surrounding areas. The owners operate a busy B&B next door and responded to any requests that we had. Yes we would love to stay again in the future.

Brilliant cottage right next door to a good pub. Really friendly helpful owners, we had a problem with our arrival date (illness in the family) and they made other arrangements for us with absolutely no fuss. Super terrace, almost too hot! with nice garden and country views. Would we go again - definitely.

Had an amazing time at The Old Forge for a week 23/3/18. Its a beautiful cottage. Would definately love to visit again in the future. Colin and Wendy are so welcoming and friendly. The cottage has everything you need. Its great having The Bradford pub on the door step for evening meals and a pint. The beds were comfortable and rooms so cosy. I would recommend for couples and families to stay here. Thankyou Hargreaves family x

Looking neglected- no external lighting to paths, very dangerous. Kettle disgusting, didn't knock off Toaster does not toast properly, leaves a one inch white bit all around Early morning traffic noise, the road is a rat run Downstairs radiators rusting No radio reception on bedside radio Bedding smells due to using a certain brand of washing powder No towel in kitchen Toilets don't flush properly due to the paper being like tissue Didn't see hosts on arrival, key left in the lock

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We were very disappointed to have received this review. The barn is not neglected, we have worked extremely hard in making it the cosy, nice, warm, characteristic place that it is today. There are two sets of lights when you come into the garden, one of which lights the whole garden, so I don't think that would classify the lighting as very dangerous. We could not find anything disgusting about the kettle, I found that the switch was faulty and it has since been replaced. The toaster was the same one that you used 18 months ago when you last stayed with us, since that time, therefore we are surprised by this comment. The toaster has since been replaced. Again, the early morning traffic is the same as it was on your previous stay so we are puzzled by the comment. We can confirm the downstairs radiators aren't rusting. The radio alarm clock was not put in there purely to be used as a radio, more so for an alarm clock, again, they are the same radio alarm clocks as your previous stay. If you really wanted the radio, then the TV in the room is also a DVD/CD player and it also incorporates several radio channels. In the eight years that the barn has been opened as a holiday let, we have always used the same brand of washing powder for the bedding, the same as you would have had on your last visit and we have not had any previous complaints. We set our high standards eight years ago and they still remain in place since then. Admittedly there are no towels in the kitchen, there are, however, numerous clean tea towels and oven gloves left in the kitchen along with three hand towels in each of the bathrooms, one of which is in the bathroom right next to the kitchen. Since your last visit, we have had all three toilets as well as bathrooms and showers inspected by Severn-Trent Water Authority who assured us that there is no issue with the toilets. We supply an ample amount of toilet rolls in the barn, the same ones for eight years, we pay a lot of money for the toilet rolls and they are of a very good quality. I am sorry you didn't see us on your arrival, however, you may recall that I spoke to you about two or three days before your arrival and informed you that we may not be there when you arrive and you said that was fine because you had been there before and you knew the layout and an appropriate place was agreed upon for you to let yourselves in. We have been with our agents, Cottages.com since we first opened eight years ago and I know that not all holiday lets have owners living in the same complex, some live hundreds of miles away and therefore a lot of guests let themselves in any way. We are sorry that you have given us such a low score, however as can be evidenced from previous reviews the majority of our guests have enjoyed their stay and indeed we have many repeat guests. All the points that you raised could easily have been put right had you come to our front door and told us of your concerns whilst you stayed with us, but you chose, for whatever reason, not to, which I am really sorry about as you know that we are very approachable, friendly people.

Loved the barn. Also the sheep in the field next door who came to visit each day. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The Bradford Arms pub next door was a good place to eat and drink. Very welcoming.
