This accommodation is excellent. Despite its age, the cottage is well appointed with a well equipped kitchen including washing machine and tumble drier. As the mobile phone signal is unreliable at best and mostly non existent in the National Park, it was brilliant to have WiFi and a landline ( payphone but able to receive incoming calls) to keep in contact with elderly relatives. A smart tv was an added benefit. We had a steady supply of hot water. The bedrooms were roomy and the master had a four poster bed which added to the romance of the cottage. In general the owners have up-dated the property without damaging its original character. We were surrounded by beautiful scenery and woke to the sounds of sheep. It is a rural idyll. The big houses of the Peak District were within easy reach and even Lyme Park was only 60 minutes away. Roystone Grange Farm is perfectly situated for sightseeing and for walking with the High Peak Trail right on the doorstep. It is a site of rich archaeological interest and our seven day stay only gave us a glimpse of the history of the area. Our hosts were hospitable but not intrusive and as they live in the adjoining property they would have easy to contact had we needed their help. We loved the cottage and look forward to staying there again.

Very unfriendly male owner told me and my husband off for turning up the heating past 16 degrees. We explained that we was cold and he told us next time to buy wood off him to light a fire if we was cold again. We apologized and said the fire guard wasn't very good as if kept falling over and we had three dogs, he was very rude and we didn't say the full week because of him, we left after 5 days. The cottage is advertised as having heating, you should be able to use it with out being intimidated. Ruined are holiday altogether, i would warn off anyone staying there in the winter
