The Old Engine Shed is a wonderful holiday home set in a rural village. The property is ideal for couples or families to use a base to explore the local countryside for a short break, or an ideal setting for a longer stay to enjoy sights further afield. The property is all on the ground floor and comprises a well-equipped kitchen, separate dining room, cosy living room and two double bedrooms, as well as a modern shower room. Outside the property there is a small garden oasis that is perfect to sit and enjoy the last of the day’s sun with a cold drink. There are stunning countryside walks right from the door, or bring your bikes for some exceptional road or off road cycling locally.
Nearby, visit Athelhampton House and Gardens, a stone built, Grade I listed Tudor manor house surrounded by acres of deer park, or Tolpuddle, famed for its martyrs and commemorated with a museum in the village. Spend time out on the beautiful Jurassic Coast, taking in Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, and enjoy some magnificent scenic coastal cliff walks to Swanage and the Isle of Purbeck. For great family time, venture onto the scenic Swanage Steam Line for a trip back in time, or visit Corfe Castle, Monkey World and the Tank Museum at Bovington.
On your doorstep, you have the county town of Dorchester with its museums and wide range of independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Should you be craving fresh sea air, then head to Weymouth and its golden sandy beach. Further afield, a day trip to The New Forest National Park is well worth a visit with free roaming ponies, donkey and even pigs during panage, or head further west and visit Lyme Regis, a charming coastal town on the Dorset/Devon border. Whatever you reason for choosing The Old Engine Shed, we are certain it will leave you longing to return. Beach 10 miles.
