Great holiday place and the owners very friendly and helpful. Court yard ideal for dogs, though the fields are not suitable to let the dogs off lead. Bed mattresses uncomfortable and would benefit from being replaced. Shower unit was covered in mould.

We had a super time at the Old Barn. It is very well appointed and very comfortable. We would highly recommend a stay here.

The WiFi did not connect at all, I would of liked a washing line and pegs instead of having to use a tumble drier. The beds were small as only doubles, and you need to go everywhere in a car. On the plus side, nice layout and spacious, good kitchen and large bathroom if a little tired.

It was a spacious and comfortable cottage but I didn't realise it was close to a main road, the constant traffic noise kept me awake. The paddock was good for the dogs to exercise in, but there weren't any local walks from the cottage that I felt were safe because of the busy road.

The accommodation was very pleasing. We had a very enjoyable stay with our Dogs. The decorated Christmas trees were a nice touch. Sitting in front of a large fire place on a cold Winters day, enjoying the delightful large living area with all its features was perfect. We would defiantly recommend to our friends and family. Only one toilet and wash room between a family of six, which includes two teenagers, was difficult, otherwise enjoyed our stay and the dogs loved the field to exercise and wear themselves out.

The Barn was a lovely place to spend some well earned time off. The owners were very thoughtful and on hand to help. My only comments (and this is NOT criticism) is that it would have been lovely to have had some leaflets or walking books with walks of the local area. Also, a regular check of the equipment available in the barn may be beneficial as the bottle shelf in the door of the fridge was broken when we arrived and the tumble dryer didn't work (an old pair of tights was wrapped around the filter). The owners did say that any problems we were to report but I didn't want them to feel I was unhappy.

The cottage was unique in its own way . I felt the cleaner could have done with a couple of spare hands to keep the cobwebs down. The corridor from the living area too the bedrooms was poorly lit and there were two steps leading from the living area to the corridor that were dangerous .The owner only had to put a hand rail and the problem solved As it is at the moment elder or arthritic people would find it dangerous and difficult The bedrooms were very musty smell about them especially the twin bedded room . The open fire was expensive to keep going to heat such a large room we used even the radiators on to keep the place warm The bathroom was large not that comfy and a long way away from the sleeping quarters. The best room in the cottage was the kitchen. The location was on a very busy road and the brochure photo gives the impression that its downloaded a quite country lane . Its not be aware it is very noisy. We stayed in November iwould not like to think of the noise of the road in the summer . Thelocationforsiteseeing was brilliant.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We take all reviews very seriously and it is regretable that these guests did not enjoy their stay with us. The Barn had recently undergone a deep clean (in addition to the regular turn round cleaning) and the only cobwebs we could find were those at the very apex of the double height ceiling in the main Barn area. These we have removed, but as September and October is the main spider season we cannot guarantee that spiders will not spin more webs immediately after we have removed them. We certainly do our utmost to keep them at bay. The corridor is lit by two overhead lights which have proven to be effective for the past 10 years. There are two small steps, but a handrail would impede the width of the entrance to the main living area causing a different set of difficulties so is unfortunately not practicable. It was a shame that these guests did not approach us about the heating problems they experienced - especially as we live on site. It turned out that the trip had gone on the circuit operating the main electric radiators, which was very easy to rectify by simply flicking the switch back up. The resultant lack of radiator heating would possibly explain why they considered the Barn felt cold and 'musty'. The Barn is located by the coast road which, as these guests mentioned, means it is excellently positioned to explore the local sites. This does mean the neighbouring road can become busy with fellow sightseers and local traffic at certain times of the day and especially when the weather is fine. The Barn is double glazed and faces away from the road, but inevitably there will be some road noise at times because of its good accessibility to the coast. We always want our guests to have an enjoyable stay at the Barn and ask that if there are any problems to come and see us so we can resolve them straightaway. We are very friendly, but will generally leave our guests to enjoy their holiday in peace unless they approach us!

The Barn is on a main road with no pedestrian walkway at all, so although the pub/restaurant is 500yards away, to walk to it with dogs on a lead is nigh on impossible. The owners have notices in the barn that dogs can't be left there unattended, so you either drive to the pub and don't have a glass of wine, or stay in. May as well be at home! Would say the place really needs a deep clean too. Dusty and unkempt.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner- The Old Barn is located in rural Norfolk, which does not tend to have either pavements or street lighting outside local towns. With regards to leaving dogs unattended, we have experienced some distressing events this year when people have left their dogs in the Barn causing damage to the furniture and, on one occasion, leaving dog faeces and urine for us to clear up indoors. We understand that not all dogs are so destructive or dog owners so disgusting but we have to strike a balancing act between making sure the Barn stays in good condition and enabling guests to enjoy their stay. Many of our guests bring dog crates with them which means their animals can be safely left. We will look at investing in a crate that guests can request when they book, as we understand they are clearly very bulky to pack. There is also a secure courtyard to the front of the Barn and guests are always welcome to leave their dogs there without any problem.
