We had a very pleasant stay - the bed and sofas were extremely comfortable, and the wood-burner stove very efficient. We would recommend the 'Moondance' tea-shop in Chew Magna, as it provided a good breakfast and is dog-friendly. The 'Spar' store along the road could supply most basic needs, meals, papers etc. The owners were very friendly and helpful, especially when the oven would not work. They cooked a meal for six in their Aga: two chickens, roast potatoes, stuffing, sausages and bacon rolls! The only reason we would hesitate to go back is the road outside, as it was extremely busy night and day, and that was apparently out of the local school term. Convenient for Weston, Clevedon, Cheddar, and the Book Barn at Farington Gurney, and we did vaguely consider going to Bristol by bus.

Firstly, we were on a fishing holiday for three days so just about anywhere with a roof and washing facilities and basic cooking facilities would suffice. What we needed was available but then we did not need much. I would suspect that a couple having a weeks holiday may give a different review than I am. The owners are very nice people and the couple of complaints I did have were fixed immediately. If you are an Angler and would like to fish Chew valley lake or Blagdon lake then this little rental would suffice. There is enough room for two but if you are taking home your fish the freezer will accommodate around twelve trout gutted head and tailed unless you want to fillet your fish then obviously a lot more. The accommodation would lack for a lot of needs for a couple who cook at home rather than eat out but you can get by with what is on offer. I did have a big negative and that is where the accommodation is situated. Be careful as the road is very busy and you need to have someone to see you out from the parking area whether it be at the front door or in the field to the rear. I would use it again if we want to fish in the area but best you check out other reviews if you are planning a non fishing holiday as this is a very bias review for our needs. The accommodation is clean, and the local amenities for us were the two lakes so that is all I can comment on. It is a very difficult review if you are not an Angler as the needs for anglers are generally much less than a holiday maker. I can not make any detrimental comment given what we required and the owners should target anglers travelling to the area as it is sufficient for most of the requirements they would have.

Basically a nice cottage, but in need of redecorating and recarpeting. Equipment is OK, if pretty basic, but the cooker didn't work properly. The lounge fireplace is a half-finished project, and the guest area outside the back door is overgrown. I get the impression that the owners haven't spent much on upkeep since the original conversion. On the plus side, it was clean, there were fresh flowers and a tin of excellent biscuits. A good base for exploring the area south of Bristol.

Spiders and cobwebs on arrival not good . Beds different to photos . No single , just a camp bed on floor . Double bed is old , creaky and sags in middle . Outside has long grass , fallen apples and weeds in the seating area . On the other hand it has most of what you need but nothing special , just average .
