This unique amalgamation of real-life military equipment - including an army safari tent, tipi, and a bomb shelter bathroom - combine to create this wonderful themed woodland hideaway. The beautifully secluded site sits high on the hillside with breath-taking views of the Herefordshire countryside and offers a whole range of brilliantly themed army zones just for you. Whether you’re looking for a unique romantic getaway or fun-filled family escape this fabulous woodland camp has so much to offer. The main living quarters is a genuine ex-military safari tent, which comes complete with two woodburning stoves, chesterfield sofa, double bedroom, and a fully functional kitchen. All the little extras from the pots and the pans to the coffee table are wonderful examples of real-life military gear, each with their own intriguing back story.
The super-insulated army tipi contains two single beds plus another wood burner, which makes a great second bedroom for kids, friends, or another couple. The bathroom is styled in the form of an air raid shelter, beautifully installed with a shower, toilet, and hot running water, while the transparent roof looks up towards the trees protruding into the sky, creating a magical outdoor experience. An open plan kitchen tent, with fully recycled army equipment, of course, is perfect for a family feast, while the barbecue and fire-pit outside offers another place to dine amongst the majestic woodland setting. In addition, the lookout point offers yet one more seating area to enjoy, with mesmerizing views through a clearing in the trees, while a woodland walk mapped out through the trees has been installed with several shooting targets for your own personal firing range.

The gorgeous woodland setting offers a real sense of seclusion, while the huge range of features and facilities make The Officer’s Hideaway a truly magical experience. Perfect! Fun for our teenage boys comfortable and relaxing for us! Local farm shop was fab Hereford beef cooked over an open fire as good as it gets! Washed down with plenty of local cider as well! The Welsh butter is also worth a mention. Great fun tending to the camp fires an keeping the hot tub just so. Big thanks to Suzzie and Karen for make our holiday one to remember. We look forward to booking the safari next year. And maybe the cottage later this year!

The location was stunning - the fact you're in a woodland area by yourself with birdsong and not traffic was instantly relaxing. The amenities with their army theme was amazing. Felt very homely and safe. The boys loved their own teepee and the independence it gave them in terms of being away from the main tent, looking after their own stove and going to the loo in the dark! Our meet and greet was friendly and informative. The homemade cake was a lovely touch too. Great to go somewhere that encouraged our boys to walk through woodland as they'd taken their airsoft guns to find and shoot at targets along the trail. The break was an all round success!

We had a fantastic family holiday at The Officer's Hideaway. The location of the camp (on the edge of the woods and near the top of a hill) was perfect - it was secluded and peaceful, with stunning views of the Herefordshire countryside. Our children loved playing in the hot tub, swinging in the hammock, watching the wildlife, and helping us to build a fire each evening. There is an excellent Farm Shop just a few minutes drive down the hill (perfect for stocking up on local produce and ice cream), and the beautiful market town of Hay-on-Wye was definitely worth a visit. We are all looking forward to going back again soon!
