Description

Spot wildlife around Chew Valley Lake, or visit Cheddar with its gorge and caves or the city of Wells.

This attractive, detached, single-storey barn conversion, adjacent to the owners’ home, is located in the village of Blagdon and enjoys stunning views over Blagdon Lake. The living room and bedroom both have patio doors facing out over the pretty garden and lake, and the patio area is the perfect spot from which to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and views. This holiday property is ideal for walkers, with footpaths leading from the village and around the lake, and the larger Chew Valley Lake nearby is a haven for wildlife. Cheddar is 7 miles, with England’s largest gorge and caves, a popular visitor attraction. The small city of Wells has a magnificent cathedral, medieval Bishop’s Palace and many historic buildings. It also hosts a thriving weekly market in the cobbled square, with a good array of shops, restaurants and cafes. The cities of Bristol and Bath are within a short drive, as are the coastal resorts of Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon and Burnham-on-Sea. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Step to entrance. All on ground floor: Living room with patio doors/dining room/kitchen. 1 double bedroom (6ft zip and link can be twin beds on request) with patio doors and en-suite shower room with toilet.

Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Freezer. Small garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (1 car). Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: 3 steps to garden.

Access is very poor, not helped by the owners un help full parking. You need to be able to drive out not reverse.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We feel disappointed with Karen's review and comments. Access to the Nest and our bungalow is provided by a drive, which is 9 1/2 feet wide at its narrowest (our Qashqai is 7 feet wide with mirrors fully extended), and opens up into a quiet lane. Most of our guests reverse out even with larger cars than ours. When I spoke to Karen, I did say that I was prepared to park my car in the village car park just up the lane to enable them to reverse in our yard and drive out forwards to which she said that she would see how they got on. Nothing more was mentioned about it so we thought everything was ok. Although the "Nest" is compact, it provides comfort and is well equipped including a dishwasher. Only a few days before, an Agency representative did their annual inspection and they told us that it conformed to their expectations with no recommendations. Our location is a place designated as a site of Outstanding Natural Beauty because of its views over Blagdon Lake and the Mendips. The “Nest” shares these views. We try to provide our guests with a comfortable and pleasant stay and try our best to resolve any issues which might arise.

Stunning little barn conversion with great attention to detail, with the comfort of the guests definitely at the forefront. Nestled in its own little garden, with fantastic views of the lake and countryside below. A delight!

We had a lovely 3 day stay at The Nest with our small dog. The cottage was cosy and well equipped and the views over the lake are stunning. The patio area would benefit from a bit of picket fencing to make it dog secure but overall its a fab place to stay.
