Description

Spot wildlife around Chew Valley Lake, or visit Cheddar with its gorge and caves or the city of Wells.

This attractive, detached, single-storey barn conversion, adjacent to the owners’ home, is located in the village of Blagdon and enjoys stunning views over Blagdon Lake. The living room and bedroom both have patio doors facing out over the pretty garden and lake, and the patio area is the perfect spot from which to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and views. This holiday property is ideal for walkers, with footpaths leading from the village and around the lake, and the larger Chew Valley Lake nearby is a haven for wildlife. Cheddar is 7 miles, with England’s largest gorge and caves, a popular visitor attraction. The small city of Wells has a magnificent cathedral, medieval Bishop’s Palace and many historic buildings. It also hosts a thriving weekly market in the cobbled square, with a good array of shops, restaurants and cafes. The cities of Bristol and Bath are within a short drive, as are the coastal resorts of Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon and Burnham-on-Sea. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 250 yards.

Step to entrance. All on ground floor: Living room with patio doors/dining room/kitchen. 1 double bedroom (6ft zip and link can be twin beds on request) with patio doors and en-suite shower room with toilet.

Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Freezer. Small garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (1 car). Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: 3 steps to garden.

Lovely time once again as we had stayed at the same venue a year or so ago. Owners are very friendly, flexible and more than happy to offer to accommodate some friends who’d been let down by their accommodation provides. Will definitely stay again.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to comment. The Nest had excellent comments in the visitor book which I fully concur with. I would just make the following comments: - access to the Nest was quite tricky - especially for an older person. The property is on the side of a hill. The drive has stone walls on each side of a narrow drive through into a parking area at the front of the bungalow, The owners park their car there as well which results in a guest having to reverse out of the parking area and through the narrow walls, The owners do not appear to put their car in the garage, if they did, a guest would be able to do a three point turn and drive forwards out of the drive and not backwards. Another difficulty is that having reversed out of the drive the guest has to drop backwards down the hill at an angle in the road to then straighten u p and drive up the hill. Although the road has very little traffic I think there is potential for an accident there. The garden was well laid out with a fairly large grassy area. Here again an older person might have difficulty accessing this as there are steps from the Nestwhich although there is a light, are rather difficult to negotiate in the dark.

A small and cosy cottage with a lovely small garden and view across a lake. The owners were very welcoming and have equipped the cottage very thoughtfully including a generous welcome package.
