The Manor House is ideal for couples and families who value peace and quiet but at the same time like having lots to see and do within easy reach. Located on the outskirts of the pretty village of Churchtown, next to the owner’s home, this detached home enjoys a quiet rural location. It is one of only a few places in the UK where you can see red squirrels and they are regular visitors to the enclosed rear garden. The village of Churchtown which is approximately 1 mile away from the property offers a good range of amenities, including mini market, bakery, pharmacy, golf club and Botanic gardens with a lake, café, children’s play area, mini golf and aviary.
Southport, 2½ miles away, with its many attractions including, the second longest pier in the UK, great shopping, good selection of cafes and restaurants, and also has art gallery, theatre, cinema, bowling, model railway and Splashworld indoor waterpark. Ideal for building sandcastles, flying a kite, Southport attracts many varieties of bird life, flora and fauna. The neighbouring beach Ainsdale has large famous sand dunes with nature trails. Bird and animal lovers will also enjoy a trip to the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust at Martin Mere, 8 miles, with its bird sanctuary, otters and children’s play area.
There are some lovely walks in the area and as much of the area is flat it’s also ideal for cycling. There are several golf courses in the area including Southport Old Links, 700 yards, and the Royal Birkdale, only 5 mile away, which will host the Open Golf Tournament in 2017. Shop 800 yards, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Enclosed lawned garden with patio, garden furniture and barbecue. Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: Couples and family bookings only. There is a step to the patio. This property has a security deposit of £150.

    The property is ideally situated for exploring the local area, being on the very edge of the residential part of town. It was very clean and peaceful, with no barking dogs to contend with. A pleasant feature is the rear garden which is not only very private, but also features red squirrels.

    Needed a car to go anywhere. Not very private the owner's husband kept coming round to water plants in the greenhouse which was in the back garden of the property.

    Response on behalf of the owner; We are very concerned and puzzled to receive such a low rating. The guests had said they had booked our property because it was rural and that they loved walking. I must have passed them on the road - a country lane - a couple of times and they waved enthusiastically. The Manor House is very private but we did ask if they minded if my husband watered some exotic plants in the greenhouse in the garden - which he would only do when they were out so as not to disturb them. They agreed they had no objections. We do try our best to be as unobtrusive as possible and usually after meet and greet, we do not have contact with guests unless they contact us. At no point did the guest express they were unhappy with anything - we could have resolved the problem quickly had they mentioned it. We are sorry that the guests were disappointed with their stay at The Manor House but would like to thank them for the lovely comments they wrote in our visitor’s book.

    Nice to have a good location to view Southport and area. Do need a car as no local transport but that was not a problem. Friendly welcome. Shame we pick a ba week weather wise so not able to fully appreciate garden and red squirrels.
