This location is perfect for exploring The Lakes and the Scottish Borders, as it lies between the popular lakeside town of Keswick and the historic city of Carlisle, both within 20 miles. The traditional market town of Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth, is 16 miles away and Hadrian’s Wall is easily accessible. Beach 5 miles. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

    The Maltings is a very homely cottage. Very well equipped with everything you need. The garden is exceptionally large ideal for family games.We had breakfast and tea outside most days.

    We had a very enjoyable break staying at the Maltings. I have scored 10 for each of the ratings as it was just what we wanted. I have scored a 10 for local amenities, although there is only a pub within the local area again that is what we wanted. A super place to stay if you want peace and quiet. Would definitely return next year.

    The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Perfect area to get away from the city. Perfect for a dog as the outside area is large and completely enclosed. The wood burner was stunning and thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
