The Lookout is a dream come true for couples or solo travellers looking to get away from it all on their own west coast adventure. With breathtaking sea views and an abundance of wildlife, The Lookout on Davaar Island provides a secluded and comfortable base from which to explore The Mull of Kintyre and this hidden gem of an island.

Set at the northern tip of Davaar Island, The Lookout is connected to the mainland by a causeway, revealed by the sea for 4-6 hours at low tide. On arrival and departure, visitors will met by the Island caretakers and ferried by Landrover across the causeway (leaving cars in the parking area at the main access point to the island). Once on the island, the mainland is just 20 minutes’ walk across the causeway, and Campbeltown, with good shops and restaurants, is a further 2 miles by car. Complimentary crossings to and from the mainland are offered for guests by arrangement with the caretakers.

The cottage is simply charming inside with a fully-equipped kitchen, a warming wood burner and a luxurious kingsize bed with 100% cotton bed linen. Small touches such as a complimentary decanter of local Campbeltown Whisky, binoculars and bird guides are supplied for guests as well as an art box, book collection and telescope in the upstairs sunroom. Dolphins, minke whales and basking sharks are frequently spotted off the shore as well as plentiful bird and wildlife. Shop, pub and restaurant 3½ miles.

The Lookout is immaculate and the location, although on an island with only another cottage and the caretaker and his wife is absolutely superb for pure solice and relaxation. 'The Lookout is a credit to the caretaker and his wife as it is absolutely spotless and the vantage point it holds next to the lighthouse takes your breath away
