This property is part of our English Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Set on the first floor and with a balcony overlooking the countryside, this apartment is well placed for visiting Sherborne and Shaftesbury.

The Lodge offers stylish and luxurious accommodation with wonderful country views and is set in picturesque Dorset countryside, in the heart of what was the Royal Stud. It is in a great location to explore this wonderful area, with Sherborne to the west, Shaftesbury to the east and Wincanton to the north.
The Lodge stands detached and is set on the first floor. As you open the doors to the lodge and step inside, you’ll instantly know you’re in for a treat - it is beautifully finished with the décor predominately finished in oak. The living, dining and kitchen areas are open plan with wooden beams, and the electric wood burner is an added bonus, perfect for snuggling down for the evening and gazing out the huge glass windows, straight across the countryside. Towards the back of The Lodge you will find a modern fitted shower room and a very spacious bedroom.
The property sits on the edge of cider orchards where the award-winning Copse House cider is made. There are lovely long walks across the Blackmore Vale and several footpaths within easy reach which lead down into the village of Buckhorn Weston and the local pub for wining and dining. Within easy driving there is much to enjoy, whether taking in the lovely character towns of Sherborne, with its shops, castle and abbey, or Shaftesbury with its links to Hovis and the famous Gold Hill. You can enjoy visiting nearby attractions, such as National Trust Stourhead House and Gardens, Longleat House and Safari Park, Haynes International Motor Museum or the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum. Further afield you can venture to the city of Bath, with its Georgian architecture, Salisbury with its fascinating cathedral city and spire, and many more exciting places. A very beautiful home in a very beautiful location. You are far enough away from everything but also a 5-10 minute drive away from lots of pubs and shops. We would love to stay here again.

We loved the setting of The Lodge and it's privacy. David and Jane were on hand but not intrusive. Everything was spotlessly clean and fresh. The welcome hamper and little extra touches were very much appreciated - like toiletries, washing up provisions, kitchen towel & even a little sketch book which we inspired to us!! The Lodge is well equipped and the bed was super comfy and bed linen & towels were all freshly laundered. The views and walks from the door were superb and Gillingham is a very short drive away for supplies. There was plenty of choice for eating out just a very short drive away and you could walk to the local pub across fields or down country lanes though weather didn't permit us to do this. A big thank you to excellent hosts.

A real gem, special building in a beautiful countryside setting. Facilities very special and were sorry to leave. We felt very privileged to be the first guests and the hosts were very friendly.
