Description

Ideally located to explore the Western Highlands, and plenty to do for all ages.

Situated on the edge of the small village of Roybridge, this semi-detached holiday cottage is attached to the owner’s home and enjoys a peaceful setting with wonderful views of the mountains. Fort William, the ’Outdoor Capital of the UK’ is only 13 miles away, whilst Nevis Range Mountain Resort is 9 miles. The Lodge is well equipped and makes an ideal base for exploring the Western Highlands and Cairngorm National Park. Outdoor activities in the area include mountain biking, walking, climbing, skiing, fishing and a variety of watersports. The area is renowned for its spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife, with golden eagles, deer, otters and porpoises often seen. The Ice Age parallel roads are a natural phenomenon a short distance away, and there is fishing locally. Take a trip on the Jacobite steam train as seen in the Harry Potter film, visit stunning castles and gardens, sail to the beautiful island of Mull, or spend a day exploring the Ardnamurchan peninsula. For the keen golfer there are several golf courses nearby, and there is easy access to the Isle of Skye, Inverenss and Loch Ness. Shop 3 miles, pub and resturant 500 yards.

Lovely cottage. Plenty if kitchen utensils and equipment. Lovely setting with lots of wildlife around. Beds were comfy and the "snug" is actually a third bedroom with small ensuite albeit a futon style sofa bed but was comfy enough for our son. No dishwasher which is not the end of the world but something we are used to seeing now in other holiday homes. The owners live through he well but keep themselves to themselves mostly and it is very quiet and wonderfully dark at night with no streetlight glare.

Family of four, ranging in age from 43 to 82; plus a dog. This was a break from every day worries and the superb, quiet location did just that. With the dog, there were plenty of walks from the house or a short distance away. Within a reasonable walking distance there is a small village with basics, or a few miles away a larger village with more facilities. The house was clean, fully kitted with what you needed to cook/dine with; and comfortable.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your review of your stay, I am however a little perplexed by your low score which I believe to be inconsistent with your comments and from your conversation with ourselves. We spent time chatting together during your stay and again prior to your leaving. We believed you were more than happy and wanted to stay over on your departure day. It was a beautiful sunny day and your husband wanted to climb Ben Nevis before returning home. In addition we were asked for our details in order for you to return out of season. We value all feedback and make a point of meeting all guests in person so we can respond and make any improvements where necessary so as not to spoil your holiday.
