The Little Barn at Hartwell lies close to the village of Sydenham Damerel near the Pannier Market town of Tavistock in West Devon. Tucked away in the heart of the Tamar Valley, this area is counted as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This fabulous, detached barn conversion nestles in the heart of stunning Devon countryside on the owner’s smallholding. It is just 10 minutes’ drive from Dartmoor National Park and 5 minutes’ drive from Cornwall. Each bedroom has a Freeview TV and boasts en-suite facilities, whilst the master bedroom upstairs also benefits from a stunning window seat where you can sit and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Tamar Valley. The property is light, bright and airy on the inside, and has a door leading out from the living room to the slate patio area, where there is a large table with chairs seating six people and from where stunning views over the valley can again be admired. The garden, with its barbecue, provides a great place to relax and dine in, whilst being secluded and tranquil. The property is surrounded by wildlife, and the woods nearby are home to nesting buzzards, pheasants and rabbits. The owner’s smallholding, just along from The Little Barn, has sheep grazing as well as resident ducks and chickens which provide fresh produce each day. Footpaths are a 2-minute walk from the property and lead off in many directions allowing you to explore the countryside all around without getting the car out. A local pub is just 1 mile through country lanes and there a small village shop just a 5-minute drive away. The Little Barn at Hartwell is tucked away off the beaten track with no road noise and dark black night skies, ideal for studying the stars. This all makes for a great place to lose yourself in a world of complete relaxation and rejuvenate your batteries. It is a property perfect for families or friends to share and be able to explore the many walks or activities around.
The ancient stannery town of Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor National Park is just 5 miles away. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy walking and cycling from The Little Barn at Hartwell, as well as horse riding and golf courses just a few miles away. With lots of pubs and great restaurants within a 5 mile radius, The Little Barn at Hartwell is perfectly placed for everyone to enjoy a ‘Devon heaven’ holiday. Beach 22 miles.     This cottage is a real gem. A definite 5*. The cottage is very well presented and equipped. Sarah and Steve were great hosts and very friendly. They provided a lovely welcome pack and all along, ensured we enjoyed our stay. Everything had been thought of and the facilities in the cottage were of great quality and quantity. This cottage makes an ideal break for families as each bedroom has ensuite facilities and a TV. The lounge, dining, kitchen area is very well laid out and you have plenty of space. We are definitely planning a return trip.

    I have never taken the time to write a review before but staying here has made me do so... You will not find more welcoming, friendly and helpful owners, if you need them. They went above and beyond in providing support to my family(5)about everything including the best places to visit in the surrounding areas and made this stay in their exceptional 5* property very special indeed. The location is fantastic, the owners are great and the property ticks all the boxes. Time and effort has been spent here and it deserves this review. I challenge any other person staying here to not write the same...

    Beautiful place to stay and would recommend to any of my friends and family. Lovely restored barn to a very high standard. It was very comfortable for a family of 6 adults and it was nice to have a bathroom each. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Would love to visit again. Sarah and Steve where very helpful before and during our holiday.

    A lovely stay in peaceful surroundings the owners were wonderful nothing was too much trouble. there were fresh eggs available from the farm to buy and a very welcome supply of tea milk and shortbread biscuits. Beautiful vases of flowers too. We had our young dog with us and it was very pet safe and friendly. Would definitely recommend
