    We absolutely loved our stay at the Library! The view was breath-taking and there were so many things to do within a short walk or drive away. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable and beautifully finished, we had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. The (decent) bottle of wine on arrival was very much appreciated. Highly reccomend.

    Beautiful place with everything you need in a good location. Very peaceful area with no noise except the birds, felt totally relaxed staying here. We would certainly stay here again!!

    A lovely cottage with lovely views over Ullswater lake. Location is quiet and pleasant. Allows 2 dogs, from that point great but surroundings were not especially dog friendly. Parking was a bit awkward, a bit far away from the cottage and the allocated space was quite muddy.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. In regards to your comments about the property not being ‘dog-friendly’, I previously did not permit dogs at The Library after past bad experiences with some owners not preventing their dogs from damaging my property and some not removing dog waste from the garden. As children play in the communal grounds, the neighbours have asked that dogs be not let off their leads in the communal gardens, primarily because of the risks of uncollected dog waste. I realise that most dog owners are considerate but sadly, not all. You are allowed to walk your dog on a lead in the gardens and you are free to let your dog off the lead outside of the grounds (there are masses of fields, walks and lanes very nearby). The letting agency asked if I would consider permitting dogs once more as many people, understandably, wish to bring their dogs to the Lake District with them. I pointed out the issue with dogs not being allowed to roam off-lead in the communal grounds and the fact that my garden area is not fully enclosed (I have no intention of spoiling my view by erecting a wall or fence to enclose the small garden area). The information on the website does explain the situation about the gardens. You also could have sought further information from the letting agency since I have repeatedly advised them of the situation as regards pets in the property. Unfortunately, because of repeated complaints about dogs not being freely permitted to roam off lead, a situation I can do nothing about, I have decided that I will no longer permit pets at The Library unless requested and specifically agreed (on the understanding and acceptance of the situation re. the grounds) in advance. I apologise that the car park was muddy - it is laid with gravel but with repeated rains, the gravel gets washed away. I have arranged for a load of gravel to be delivered and spread over the parking area within the next fortnight. As regards the location of the parking space, I’m afraid it is about 50 to 100 metres from the property. I cannot change that I’m afraid. You are however able to park temporarily (for loading and unloading) both at the front and rear of the property (however both are rights of way - the front lane is very seldom used as a right of way though the rear lane more so - so cars cannot be left there for prolonged periods). The residents of Wreay Mansions feel that cars parked directly in front of our properties would greatly spoil the beautiful view. Also, you gave the property a score of 5 out of 10 for cleanliness which is very disappointing since my cleaner is very thorough in her maintenance of the property. I contacted you directly to clarify what your concerns were related to cleanliness however you have sadly failed to respond to my request. Nobody else has criticised the property’s cleanliness so with no response on your part I’m really unsure how I can address your concern.
