The property is situated in the quiet village of Reay, on the spectacular north coast of Scotland, and is also on the designated and scenic North Coast 500 route. The cottage has a number of themed murals adorning the walls and ceiling which enhance its charm and ambience. The pretty living room, known as the Orchid Room, has a lovely orchid mural and deep feather-filled sofas. There is a large conservatory at the front of the cottage, which is a useful second living room.
The pretty village of Reay has a shop, a renowned links golf course and a superb sandy beach, which are all within easy walking distance. The nearby village of Melvich has further amenities, including a restaurant and café. The charming town of Thurso is just 10 miles away, where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets, as well as a fascinating museum and lovely riverside walks. The superb wide sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs, small bays and variety of villages, all add to the magic of this unexplored part of Scotland.
The area is renowned for its bird and sea life, including puffins, great skua, otters, seals, dolphins and whales, which can all be spotted in and around the coast. There are plenty of historical sites and places of interest, such as the fairy tale Castle of Mey, which was beautifully restored by the late Queen Mother. Take a day trip to the Orkney Isles and explore Neolithic villages, standing stones, Scapa Flow and the amazing Italian chapel built by prisoners during the Second World War. There is the most Northernly Links 18th hole golf course within a quarter of a mile, also many excellent golf courses in the region, and also plenty of opportunities for horse riding, fishing, sailing, cycling and walking. Surrounded by open countryside and with some of the most beautiful sandy beaches, this pretty cottage is ideal for couples, small families and business personnel. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant 5 miles.
