A charming property with a cosy woodburner, with plenty to do in this AONB, it is perfect for families.

This charming seaside holiday cottage has been carefully renovated to provide modern living, while retaining its original features including beams and a woodburner. We loved the cottage. I would stay there again without hesitation. Great place to use as a base for getting around. The cottage was very clean, and the people were very friendly and helpful. The only negative I can say is they need more restaurants closer to the cottage. Great place for a family to stay. Loved it.

Clean, comfortable accommodation. Kitchen equipment good. We all felt really relaxed and slept well at night. Our only criticism was that the green bin was left outside the property, overflowing with plastic and glass bottles and cans. We couldn't find any recycling instructions within the the cottage, but I think, from the label on the back of the neighbour's green bin, that it should have been for paper and cardboard only. Perhaps clearer guidance is needed in the visitors' handbook. We would have felt happier if the neighbour's dog hadn't been allowed to roam lose I was disappointed to find the Post Office and newsagent had gone, we had to go to Maryport for these. (Obviously this isn't the fault of the cottage owners!)

We really enjoyed our stay at The Hill. The cottage is in a great position for the beach, which my daughter and the dog really enjoyed. There isn’t lots to do locally, you’ll need to be prepared to drive to enjoy days out. The cottage itself is bigger than we expected, so that’s a bonus. It’s clean and tidy, and we had all we needed. The toilet in the upstairs bathroom is a little tricky to get to for taller people like me, due to the sloping roof, however there is a downstairs loo, so it’s not a major issue! Overall, we enjoyed the cottage, and would recommend.
