The cottage was cosy and welcoming. There was every utensils you could want in the kitchen and plenty hot water. The only downside was the ceiling height in the bathroom. If you’re over 5ft 7in it’s impossible to stand upright beside the sink and toilet but that really is the only fault I could find. The location beside the beach was perfect for us and our dog.

Great cottage. We enjoyed a lovely family weekend here (4 adults, a toddler and 2 dogs). The cottage generally felt very spacious, with plenty of natural light. The kitchen was very well equipped albeit (in our opinion) with a lack of tumblers. There were plenty of towels provided and the beds were comfortable. The standard of cleanliness was excellent throughout. The only downside from our perspective was the reduced head height in the bathroom, however, due to the arrangement, and the presence of a second downstairs toilet, we found it perfectly workable, and did not detract from our enjoyment of our weekend. The dogs had been provided with plenty of towels making cleaning up after them very easy. Altogether a brilliant cottage that we would definitely consider returning to.

The cottage was well equipped and overall quite comfortable. One of the reasons we booked "The Hill" was because of the wood-burning stove in the livingroom. Unfortunately the stove was not working. A section of the piping to the back of the stove was removed. An electric fire was placed in front of it and it was quite noisy! The wind howled down the piping at the back of the open flue in the fireplace. There was no notification of this equipment not working. Some renovation work started on the Monday morning in the next door cottage and it felt like the drills were in the room with us. I know this is not the fault of the owners of "The Hill" but it did disturb our intended peaceful break away.

Yes we would stay again. Nice well furnished cottage,in a good location. Our only problems were dirty knives in the wooden block, also an uncleaned oven. The ironing board needs a new cover, someone had left the hot iron on it. I cleaned the iron so now as new. Sort out the little details and the Hill will be tiptop.

Well appointed cottage with everything required for self catering. Lovely location and ideal for walking the dog. Clean and comfortable. Only negative was the living room had a background odour of stale nicotine. The locals are friendly but few amenities for a village.

We had a fantastic week in the cottage, if you want a relaxing break this is the place, the cottage had everything we needed, the beaches were great for walking the dogs, you need to have a drive out to some wonderful places even taking in the race meeting in Carlisle, we would have no hesitation in booking the cottage again.

We loved the cottage. I would stay there again without hesitation. Great place to use as a base for getting around. The cottage was very clean, and the people were very friendly and helpful. The only negative I can say is they need more restaurants closer to the cottage. Great place for a family to stay. Loved it.

Clean, comfortable accommodation. Kitchen equipment good. We all felt really relaxed and slept well at night. Our only criticism was that the green bin was left outside the property, overflowing with plastic and glass bottles and cans. We couldn't find any recycling instructions within the the cottage, but I think, from the label on the back of the neighbour's green bin, that it should have been for paper and cardboard only. Perhaps clearer guidance is needed in the visitors' handbook. We would have felt happier if the neighbour's dog hadn't been allowed to roam lose I was disappointed to find the Post Office and newsagent had gone, we had to go to Maryport for these. (Obviously this isn't the fault of the cottage owners!)
