This property is part of our Welcome Cottages collection

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Close to a dog friendly beach and many attractions, this single storey cottage is perfect for year-round holidays.

This spacious, detached holiday property is wonderfully situated in Cornwall’s countryside, yet only minutes from many of the beautiful beaches in the area such as Looe, Hannifore and Seaton, which is a year-round dog friendly beach with a stylish beach bar and café. Looe, 4 miles, is home to one of the country’s fish markets supplied by the day boats that leave this quaint working harbour. Stroll the lanes that lead to the harbour and wide expanse of golden sand, buy some fish or seafood for that special meal or visit one of the multitude of restaurants the town offers. The coastal path passes nearby and provides beautiful walks and views along this dramatic coastline. In September there are live music festivals with many big names playing in the various venues.
Polperro, a quaint and historic fishing village, is a short distance along the coast. There are numerous cycle routes around the area and many surfing spots along the coast. Various tourist attractions include The Monkey Sanctuary, The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth and many golf courses along with National Trust gardens and houses. The Eden Project is an easy drive and provides a great day out, as does Padstow, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Fowey, a picturesque seafaring town providing sailing, kayaking and pleasure trips along the Fowey River.
Deep sea fishing, pleasure trips and other water sports can all be enjoyed, along with woodland and coastal walks, horse riding and river kayaking. To the east of the town is the historic city of Plymouth with its theatres, cinemas, bowling and shopping, while to the west is the sea faring town of Fowey, home to the royal sailing regatta and many galleries. Shop ¼ mile, pub 1½ mile and restaurant 2 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with French doors and wooden floor. Dining room/kitchen. 1 double (5ft) bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Freezer. Enclosed lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Shared 11-acre natural grounds. Parking (2 cars). Welcome pack. No smoking. No children. NB: Pond and stream in grounds.

A very nice cottage, Great welcombe from Tom, wonderful dog friendly and great enclosed large garden area, everything is here, supermarkeys 6 miles and small farm shop in village, very quiet and peaceful. A little more attention to cleaning though, lots of cobwebs, but clean non the less, just odd touches, also the DVD didnt work and I forget to tell them as we didnt really need it. It was very cold and with the wood floors and tiles and a boot room we felt it. but they gave us an extra heater for that area and we were very warm and cosy. great views across to the moors, would stay again

Well situated, perfect for dogs. Wooden lounge too cold for staying out of season & all dishes had to be washed before use as greasy. A peaceful week & hosts were friendly & helpful.

The Hen House is a little off the beaten track but when found is well worth the trouble. This property is ideal for dog owners with secure garden and fields around to walk in. Seaton and Looe are within 4 miles of the cottage. In summary we would love to visit again at some time in the future.

Had a lovely relaxing 2 week holiday at The Hen House, very quiet & peaceful location, great secure garden for our 2 pugs which they loved and it gave us peace of mind knowing they can't escape they also loved their daily walk/run in the fields at the back of the cottage. The cottage itself has everything you need for a self catering holiday, very well equipped with modern bathroom, kitchen and bedroom which has the biggest most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! There is also constant hot water, towels , tea towels ,and all bed linen is provided . Karen and Tom are the perfect hosts they meet you to explain how everything works then they leave you to it but are on hand if you need them for anything..they are really lovely people. We are definitely going to return next year .

Very comfortable and ideal for the dogs. Plenty of lovely places to see Dartmouth Polperro Looe St Maure Fowey Mevagissey Portmelon and quite a few more. One particular place which is not advertised water fall called golitha falls only eight miles away this is a fantastic place for the dogs extremely pretty, the car park is free opposite. A lovely restaurant at Fowey to eat right on port front called Haveners .

Had a brilliant week just chilling with me and the dog. Lovely location within reach of beaches etc. Thoroughly enjoyed it despite the weather. The prosecco, chocolate and dog treats were a bonus. Thank you.
