English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Pretty Grade II listed granary set in a small courtyard with many characterful features including beamed ceilings and arched windows.

Ideally located between the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland Heritage coastline, this Grade II listed granary offers comfortable holiday accommodation in the pretty unspoilt village of Glanton. One of a row and set in a shared courtyard, the property retains much character with beamed ceilings and arched windows. An ideal base from which to explore the many magnificent castles peppered throughout the area including the majestic castle and water gardens in Alnwick. The friendly local market towns and villages offer superb hospitality, and seafood is a speciality in the coastal towns of Seahouses and Craster. Nearby Wooler is known as the Gateway to the Cheviots and was the inspiration for Postman Pat’s Greendale. A beautiful area centrally located for the North East. Easy driving distance to all main attractions. Shops 10 yards.

Beamed living/dining room with modern kitchen area. Wooden stairs to first floor: Two bedrooms, each with rugs on pine floor; one twin and one single. Bathroom with over-bath power shower, toilet and pine floor. Beamed throughout.

There had been high winds the day before our arrival but windows had been left open and there was debris everywhere including all over the beds. Not a good impression and the cottage was freezing cold. There were two refrigerators. The integral one didn't work but the 2nd one did. A note should have been left to say the integral one didn't work. The hot water tank was very small and therefore we couldn't get enough hot water. The taps in the kitchen were EXTREMELY hard to turn on and off. Anyone with arthritis in their hands would not have been able to operate them. The owner knew about this but had not rectified it. The towels were small and very thin. I would have thrown them away long ago.
