This wonderfully appointed barn conversion, adjacent to the owner’s 17th century farmhouse, is ideal for couples who wish to enjoy a holiday in the Eden Valley and explore this beautiful area, with both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District within easy reach. The quiet farming village of Crosby Garrett lies on the edge of Crosby Garrett fell in the Westmorland Dales extension of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are plenty of visitor attractions and leisure facilities nearby, including farmers markets, swimming pools, golf courses, waterfalls, Pendragon Castle of Arthurian Legend, the Settle-Carlisle Railway and Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk. A bridleway leads from the property to Crosby Garrett Fell, providing excellent walking country with breathtaking views of the Pennines and Howgills. Smardale Nature Reserve is just over a mile away. Within a 40-minute drive, visitors can explore Ullswater and the Eastern Lakes, Swaledale, Wensleydale and the lesser known Teesdale, along with the popular towns of Keswick, Kendal, Barnard Castle and Hawes. Tan Hill, the highest pub in England is a short, pretty drive away. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

We had a lovely week in this property- despite being snowed in! It is a beautifully restored old building, maintaining character but very comfortably and tastefully furnished. John and Lynda are really helpful and kept us liberally supplied with logs to keep out the cold. The little extras of wine and home made fruit cake were also much appreciated. There are lots of lovely walks from the property and loads to do in the area.

John and Linda were great hosts, warm and welcoming but invisible for the remainder of the holiday. The hayloft is a gem with all the tasteful fittings and fixtures almost brand new, perfectly placed for long and romantic walks on the moors but just a short 4 miles to Kirkby Stephen, we walked for 4 hrs one day without seeing another person which is just what we wanted. Situated on the edge of a quiet village on the outskirts of Kirkby Stephen and within reach of the Yorkshire dales, perfect! The combination of the wood burner and electric heaters gave a great balance and kept the whole place warm whilst we were there. Our only comment would be that the stairs are fairly steep between the kitchen and the lounge if you are at all unsure on your feet. We will definitely come back to the Hay loft if only to complete the high cup Nick and Malham cove walks we planned to do but were beaten by the weather.

A perfect little cottage to get away from it all! Lovely woodburner to sit around and had everything we needed. Property finished to a very high standard! Large comfortable bed, great shower and lovely kitchen
