Description

Relax in your very own private hot tub at this holiday property, which is surrounded by 200 acres of fields and woodland.

The Granary is a detached 200 year old barn conversion, has underfloor heating, beams, spacious bedrooms and a south facing garden with a private hot tub. There is also a table and chairs which is perfect for al fresco dining. It is situated on the owners’ 200-acre working dairy and beef farm, and the owners are happy to show children around. The farm is surrounded by numerous public footpaths extending through the farm and beyond, along fields and tracks. The location is perfect for days at the beach, being 40-minutes from the north and south coastline. North Devon has a choice of unspoilt sandy beaches for surfers and water sports, and the south coast offers more varied attractions such as mackerel fishing and cream teas.

This is a peaceful location but only 2 miles from Tiverton, where you will find many independent shops, cafés and restaurants. There are so many places to visit, including Exmoor, an ½-hour drive, and Dartmoor, a 45 minute drive. For a great family day out visit Diggerland or Crealy. The Blackdown Hills and many National Trust properties are all within a short drive, including Heathcote, Killerton and Coldharbour Steam Mill. Tiverton Canal, home to one of the last horse-drawn barges in the UK and located in mid Devon on the banks of the Grand Western Canal, is a tourist attraction that offers an enjoyable family day out. The Grand Western Canal is a local nature reserve and is teeming with wildlife, and things to do and see. With free access to the canal all year round, walkers, cyclists, anglers and boat enthusiasts can enjoy 11 miles of quiet and unspoilt waterway which will lead you through Devon’s beautiful countryside.
There is a wealth of other great walks on the Quantock Hills, Exmoor, and the Devon and Somerset legs of the South West Coastal Path. In addition there is the beautiful walk around Wimbleball Lake with its wildlife trail. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

We have stayed in many cottages in the country as we go every year . This by far was the worst cottage we have stayed. Only good thing about this cottage was the hot tub and the view from this which was lovely. Apart from this the cottage is in a working farm so expectably it smells constantly of cows and the cottage is always full of flies. We constantly had to keep food and fruits covered due to the amount of flies in the house. We actually felt like we were in a barn. No one can sleep downstairs fur tontoncreaky floor board upstaires. It’s is very very noisy and would wake you up even if they just get out of bed to go to the toilet. Downstairs toilet gets flooded if one would have a shower as there are no shower curtains. All pots and pans are so old nothing can be cooked as the food gets stuck to it. There was only one frying pan which was blackened and old. All the plates and cups were chipped and need replacing. We wanted to have a BBQ as the weather was really nice, however this was so dirty and not cleaned from previous occupants, that we never used it. Owners dogs were very friendly but they were constantly around the cottage and there is dog poo everywhere. I love dogs and we had one of our own, however the owners dogs were all over even inside the cottage if the door is left open even for a short time.the cottage was done very cheaply. To get to the hot tub one have to go outside and go to the back garden so it was inconvenient to carry food even if you want to eat out specially on a nice sunny day. As a result having spent such beautiful days in the cottage we couldn’t sit out and eat. The table and chairs out side were full of bird droppings and not able to sit on anyway. We never spent time in the cottage all day as it was pretty disgusting. The windows all open to the main farm house and the rest of the barn area which was very cluttered and unkept. We have stayed in many farm houses/ cottages/ barn conversions, however none were so bad I am sad to say. The money spent was such a waste.

Very convenient situation with easy access to both North & South Devon coasts and close to all amenities in Tiverton. Cottage well equipped and in lovely farmland setting with a large garden and jacuzzi. Very enjoyable stay with the grandchildren.

We had an absolutely lovely weeekend in the Granary. It had everything we needed to enjoy the weekend. Steve and Selena were really friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were happy (even retrieving footballs off the roof!). The converted barn is spacious and well decorated and the upside down layout isn't really an issue. There are two entrances to the garden and hot tub so you can either walk between the main house and the barn via the car park or round the back which is more secluded. There are dogs on the property but they are extremely friendly and well trained so weren't an issue during our stay. We would completely recommend the property for families, couples and friends and will be returning!
