The Granary at Northwood Farm started life as the granary for the 18th-century Grade ll listed farm which was originally part of the Calwich Abbey Estate, but has now been lovingly transformed into an impressive holiday cottage. The Granary seamlessly combines original features with modern comforts to provide first-class accommodation in a quiet and peaceful location. The property has a fabulous living room with a large TV and DVD player, comfy sofas and a wood-burning stove, a spacious kitchen with large dining table, a lovely ground floor double bedroom, and a further three first floor bedrooms with real style attention to detail. The delightful courtyard area with furniture and a barbecue is ideal for dining al fresco.
One of the unique features of this property is the use of an oak framed orangery gym with amazing views over the open countryside. Enjoy use of a treadmill, rowing machine, step machine, free weights and a fitness bike, all whilst listening to your favourite tunes through the wi-fi music system.     It is very difficult to think of anything to fault with this property. Furnishings are of a high standard and impeccably clean. Four young men aged between 22 & 27 in the party found plenty to occupy them with pool table, table tennis, gym, playing cards and Xbox provided. The WiFi was excellent however mobile coverage was non exsistent which was a real blessing!

    We had a fantastic time at The Granary, shared a long weekend with family at this idilic peaceful location, great facilities, lovely view, in a rural setting. James the owner came to welcome us and we even got fresh flowers, a bottle a prosecco and complementary tea coffee and biscuits. My partner and I struggled to fine pans small enough for just 2 for the remainder of our stay once everyone left. We, including our two dogs loves the walks nearby especially dove dale. The Duncombe arms is defiantly worth a visit, steak night on a Thursday.

    Great stay. House keep very clean and was a great birthday weekend for my father in law. Great local pub and just a short drive to Ashbourne. Would love to stay here again.

    This property is amazing. Top of the range appliances in the kitchen and so well kitted out with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans. There is an ironing board, iron and Hoover. The bedrooms are even bigger in reality than they appear on the website and the second kitchen was ideal for my daughter to use to prep bottles etc for her baby. The gym was well equipt too so enjoyed a couple of sessions in it. The games room exceeded expectations, pool/table tennis table, X box, board games and small library. The utility room housed a dryer and was a great place for the dogs to dry off after their walks. Then it's a fridge freezer in the kitchen and further fridges in the second kitchen and utility room. I would highly recommend this property, I don't think anyone could find anything to be disappointed about.

    Other reviews were really good and the granary didn't disappoint us at all. Exactly the family friendly cottage we needed to celebrate a 60th birthday get together. Great standard, good quality fittings, lots of space, everything provided. The log burner was cosy, the owners very friendly and helpful, even the sun shone! James recommended a meal at the Duncombe Arms in the village but to make sure we booked - which we did - and the meal was fantastic - superb food and wine. Would certainly recommend to anyone.
