Had a wonderful time in this historic building. The owner was very pleasant and helpful and the lodge was very pleasant. The bedrooms were very spacious with lots of cupboard space. We really enjoyed it and hope to go back at some point. The only issue we had was with the water pressure which made showering a chore and the upstairs shower could do with a glass door as the curtain didn't prevent the water ending up on the floor. These are very minor points and it would not make me think twice about going back. The grounds were magnificent and security was brilliant with an electric gate in and out. This on it's own gave us great peace of mind.

Spent relaxing week, cottage supplied all our needs. Owner very helpful. Lounge a bit dark but did not detract from this beautiful cottage

The Gate Lodge would benefit from a number of upgrades including towels, shower curtains, and pans. We had a few minor maintenance issues such as a leaking pump, blocked sink and a light that wouldn't switch off. The water pressure in the upstairs shower was very low at times. Visitors need to understand that the Gate Lodge is situated very close to the A35, so be prepared for some traffic noise. The owners were very obliging when we asked for an additional bed, and there is plenty of parking space. I think most people expect Wi-Fi these days, so that would also be a welcome addition.
