Expect a luxurious stay in this beautiful stone cottage, fully restored to a very high standard with special attention to detail throughout. The property is decorated in a style; it’s naturing, warm and welcoming.
Families will love the unique, quirky style of the cottage; luxurious touches for the adults and a fabulous jungle style hideaway awaits the children. The décor throughout is eclectic and modern, with indoor and outdoor wood burners, the living area is a stylish open plan space with a huge projector screen with Netflix to snuggle down and enjoy a movie night with the family. The kitchen/dining area is a fabulous social space with bi-fold doors opening out to the courtyard. Entirely your choice – dine inside or out. For cooler evenings, the private courtyard has its own dining space, fireplace and a wood burner to keep you warm. The well-equipped kitchen has a rustic feel, providing everything you will need for your stay. A lovely space to relax with a drink while the designated chef rustles up supper, a coffee station with Nespresso machine handy for your morning latte. Off to bed and there are three fabulous bedrooms. The master bedroom has a beautiful neutral colour palette, the kingsize bed dressed with soft linens, twinkling lights and light wood furnishings giving this room a truly relaxed feel. The second room, The Palm, has twin beds and attractive tropical decor. The third bedroom has an amazing tree house theme and guaranteed to be a huge winner with the children. This fantastic den has bedside camping lanterns and a smart TV in this room. Guests are welcome to bring their own console, or make use of the Nintendo that is available upon request. This room has bespoke loft beds, which would suite ages six to twelve years, and a lower bed that can sleep toddlers to small adults. The beautiful luxury bathroom is an oasis of peace, with a free-standing copper tub set beside a wall-mounted fire, nestling under the skylight, where at night you can enjoy an indulgent soak beneath the stars. There is under floor heating and a digitally controlled rainfall shower.
Gilling West is perfect for walkers and cyclists, and there are numerous established public footpaths, walks, cycle routes and bridleways passing directly through the village and out towards Richmond and beyond towards the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Within the village are two popular pubs. The Angel Inn, where you can enjoy a Sunday roast with all the trimmings, and The Swan which prides itself on its blend of modern and traditional pub fare. Being relatively close to the A66 Pennine Way and the A1 network guests will find themselves within easy driving distance of many popular attractions and locations.
Why not leave the car behind and jump on the train at Darlington Train Station (only a 15 minute drive from the property) and visit the plethora of attractions locally! The Georgian market town of Richmond is just 3 miles away and is also a great location for guests wanting to visit the impressive historic castle, Georgian theatre, cobbled market place with an assortment of good restaurants, coffee shops, bars, independent shops and galleries. The magnificent Yorkshire Dales National Park is also within easy driving distance and the many popular North Yorkshire towns and villages, including Leyburn, Aysgarth, Hawes, Reeth, Muker and Gunnerside. A little farther afield Ripon and Northallerton. Perfect too for a day at the races, Catterick Racecourse is only a 15-minute drive away. Also located only a stones throw away from Middleton Lodge Estate!
