A perfect retreat for couples, families or friends who wish to experience something completely different from everyday life. Why not experience staying in this heritage, historic country Manor House. Relax and unwind in this fabulous wing of Whalton Manor House and experience the ambience and history of this beautiful property. With fine plaster ceilings and 18th-century oak panelling, this beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished holiday property contains many period features and forms a separate, self-contained East Wing of Whalton’s historic and fascinating Manor House.
The Manor House sits in a celebrated and magnificent 3-acre garden, originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens, which has an enviable reputation for its stunning planting. Set in the unspoilt village of Whalton, one of Northumberland’s ’must-see’ gems. In a vast county renowned for its diverse landscape, including beautiful golden beaches, magnificent valleys and wild heather moorland, Whalton’s proximity to Morpeth, Alnwick and Newcastle makes it a central attraction to visitors to the North East.
The large panelled living room with an open fire leading to a room with a full-size snooker table is perfect for rainy days. The separate Oak-panelled kitchen with island units leads to an oak-panelled dining area. On the first floor is a large double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and toilet. A second large twin bedroom and a further smaller twin bedroom. There is a large family bathroom for a lovely soak after a day of exploring.
The pretty market town of Morpeth is only 5 miles away with a wonderful Edwardian indoor shopping centre and plenty of bespoke shops, café, pubs and restaurants for the most discerning guests. There is also a wonderful friendly award-winning pub only a short walk from the property. The garden surrounds the East Wing and, although shared with the owner of the property, due to its size and layout affords some privacy for both owner and guest.
The garden is occasionally open to the public or for private tours or weddings. Guests will be notified in advance of weddings. The gardens are currently managed to encourage insect and bird populations. Guests will have exclusive use of the 3-bedroom East Wing, which is a self-contained dwelling in its own right.
Children under 12 years must be supervised by an adult around the snooker area.
