Excellent, comfortable holiday home. Four generously sized en-suite bedrooms is a real bonus (there is an additional twin room which is not en-suite). The downstairs bedroom is excellent for anyone who may find the stairs difficult. There is plenty of hot water and heating plus fuel for the open fire. Very friendly, helpful owner. The property is situated next to the A82 which is busy at certain times of the day. Fort Augustus itself is a lovely village with good walking and easy access to Loch Ness. The canal locks are busy and interesting with friendly lock-keepers who are more than happy to talk about all things nautical. There is only one food shop, apart from the local butcher, but it is well stocked and also contains a pharmacy and Post Office. All in all The Dell is an excellent place to stay.

The Dell had everything the group required and more. Its very spacious, clean and well presented. There is also a good degree of privacy with a good area of garden both front and rear. I would consider this very good value for money and would not hesitate to stay at the Dell in future. A beautiful house.

Our stay at the Dell was fantastic! It's location in Fort Augustus provided my family and I with very easy access to the shopping and attractions in the town. The house itself had everything we needed, and we particularly enjoyed the modern bathrooms and the AGA. My children (and the teenager!) are very keen to make a return visit this winter and we hope that we can pull it off with holiday schedules...

The weather helped in making our week memorable but The Dell is comfortable and roomy for 8 and well situated for exploring the Highlands - east or west coasts. Fort Augustus is large enough to have local amenities without being too busy and the Caledonian Canal locks provide endless entertainment.

A fantastic property, this was our second visit and already booked for next year. Really warm welcome and a great base for a week of walking or touring the area. Superb.

The Dell is a potentially lovely house which is in need of a little extra care and some refurbishment . On stripping beds we were saddened to discover that some mattress covers were not very clean; this also applied to the mattresses themselves. Most of us found the beds uncomfortable and thought replacement mattresses were required. There was a problem with one lavatory in an ensuite backing up. This was a problem that had been reported previously. A very helpful handyman left a plunger and a bucket with us. The same handyman attempted to rectify a fault with staircase lighting:the switches at top and bottom of the stairs did not work properly which was worrying as one of our party was a frail lady in her 80s who would have had difficulty in navigating an unfamiliar landing and staircase in the dark. We felt that, for the price, the front garden was not well tended and that the decking outside the kitchen door was dirty with moss balls in places. There was plenty of coal and wood provided and we were grateful for this as it was cold when we stayed. The central heating was effective when on. Although the lovely bright dining room had a fire laid in the grate the chimney refused to draw and probably needs attention. The kitchen is always delightfully warm because of an Aga range appliance. The kitchen is well equipped. One of our party had been to the Dell on two occasions before and during her last visit, in Autumn 2017, had reported some of these problems. On discovering that they had not been addressed she has cancelled the booking they made for this coming Autumn. The setting of the house is delightful leading to the pretty falls of water and the small but adequately stocked supermarket and local butcher. If all the matters we have mentioned are addressed the Dell would make a comfortable base from which to explore this delightful part of Scotland.
