Description

A quaint cottage, centrally located in the beautiful, rural village and conservation area of St. Margaret’s at Cliffe.

This quaint, detached, holiday cottage was built circa 1737 in a quiet lane in the heart of the conservation area of St. Margaret’s at Cliffe. Ideally situated for many walking trails, cycling and horse riding on the beautiful historic Kent coastline, stables are nearby in the village. The Cottage has an enclosed, private, courtyard garden and off road parking with additional parking a short walk away. A local store, post office, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants are all within walking distance. St. Margaret’s Bay is only ½ mile away with traditional tea rooms, a local pub, snack kiosk and areas to stroll and swim at the local beach. Enjoy nice walks to the South Foreland Lighthouse, which is open to the public and has a delightful tea room in 1950’s style, not to be missed on your visit to the area.

St. Margaret’s at Cliffe is a charming village between Dover and Deal, well known as this was once home of the ‘James Bond’ author, Ian Fleming. The bus stop in the village is nearby, taking you to Canterbury, Deal and Dover where you could explore Dover Castle and the secret war tunnels or even take a day trip to France. The lovely Georgian town of Deal is only 5 minutes away by car. There is a local indoor pool nearby. Fishing available nearby. Beach ½ mile. Shop and restaurant 200 yards, pub 100 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with beams, French doors and wooden floor. Dining room with beams and wooden floor. Kitchen with laminate floor. Utility room. All rooms with low ceilings. Steep stairs to first floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft), 1 single. Shower room with toilet.

A fantastic week in a lovely, well equipped cosy cottage. It proved to be an excellent base to explore the area from and was a true home away from home. The courtyard garden was beautiful and provided a haven of tranquillity from morning to night. The only minor complaint was with the parking - where it says in the brochure "small car"- it really should say "short" - you need a very small turning circle to get in the drive! As it was though, the car park was easily accessible and only 2 minutes walk away so no real complaints. Lovely - I would recommend this to my friends and definitely visit again.

lovely village with a local shop, two very good pubs and bus route just steps away from a lovely cottage.the beach,a mile away with great cliff top walks was amazing(and another pub!).the only point i would make is the parking is for one small car(there is a carpark 100 yards away).small enclosed garden was ok for the two of us and the cottage was just perfect, mind your head though. excellent.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your kind comments, our home is 1737 & we love the charm of our small private courtyard & low ceilings, it all adds to the quirkiness of living in an old cottage. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
