This beautiful, detached, Cotswold stone cottage has been furnished to an excellent standard and is ideal for a couple that are looking for a romantic getaway in the Cotswolds, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the centre of the small market town of Charlbury and tucked away within the friendly owner’s grounds, who have two friendly dogs who will give you the warmest welcomes, the cottage is only 200 yards from one the town’s many welcoming pubs. With spacious living areas and a cosy, double-sided wood burner warming the whole ground floor, the owner has thought of everything to make your stay perfect. Should guests have an occasion to celebrate during their stay, the owner is more than happy to help with the planning of a suprise, such as balloons, flowers and a cake (at cost, by direct prior arrangement with the owner). This is also a great place to stay whilst doing business in the area, with the tranquil surroundings, hi-speed internet access and plenty of pubs to choose from to save you cooking of an evening.

Nestling in the Evenlode Valley, Charlbury is a vibrant yet picturesque, unspoilt Oxfordshire town which grew from a small clearing in the Wychwood Forest to a prosperous market town. There’s always something going on, including an annual beer festival, live music in the local pubs, guided walks, cricket matches and Morris dancing teams. Local summer festivals, include the vibrant and ever growing Wilderness Festival at Cornbury Park, which is within walking distance, and falls on the first weekend in August from Thursday to Sunday. Other festivals include The Big Feastival in Kingham, held on August bank holiday weekend, and Cheltenham Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse in March. This is also an ideal location for walking and cycling, with the Oxfordshire Way encircling the town.

The charming Brunel railway station, less than ½ mile from The Cottage at Long Meadow, has direct trains to Oxford and London. Only 15 miles away is the university city of Oxford, and other historic towns worth visiting include Woodstock, Burford and Chipping Norton. A little further afield is Stow-on-the-Wold, Bicester, famous for its shopping village, and Regency Cheltenham. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

The cottage exceeded expectations - underfloor heating downstairs, wood burning fire, well equipped kitchen and large living room and upstairs a wonderful shower and immense comfortable bed. A welcome pack greeted us in the kitchen and the owner was on hand immediately when we couldn't initially get wi-fi connectivity. In a beautiful, secluded, private setting with no noise, other than the twit-twooing of the owls in a nearby wood of an evening, it was tranquil and relaxing.

What a beautiful place! We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Brilliant location for exploring the Cotswalds or getting into Oxford; lovely walks on the doorstep; cracking pub a stones throw away; fantastic cottage - spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished.

An amazing cottage that was cozy, warm and so relaxing and peaceful. We were warmly greeted and had also been left a wonderful welcome hamper. Lots of little unexpected extras that made life so easy. Tastefully decorated throughout to a high standard and the bed was so comfortable. Gorgeous village with 3 pubs to walk and eat at, we really didn’t want to leave.

    Response from:

The cottage is two storey and very spacious, recently renovated to a very high standard and furnished immaculately to a modern farmhouse style. Owner has a very good eye for style. Love this place and intend using the cottage again in the future but for a longer stay.

Response on behalf of the owner; It was brilliant to meet you and so glad you enjoyed The Cottage. Enjoy your summer.
