Enjoy a romantic, luxurious break at this cottage, with its double-sided wood burner, refreshing rain shower and a pub just 200 yards away.

This beautiful, detached, Cotswold stone cottage has been furnished to an excellent standard and is ideal for a couple that are looking for a romantic getaway in the Cotswolds, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the centre of the small market town of Charlbury and tucked away within the friendly owner’s grounds, who have two friendly dogs who will give you the warmest welcomes, the cottage is only 200 yards from one the town’s many welcoming pubs. With spacious living areas and a cosy, double-sided wood burner warming the whole ground floor, the owner has thought of everything to make your stay perfect.

Nestling in the Evenlode Valley, Charlbury is a vibrant yet picturesque, unspoilt Oxfordshire town which grew from a small clearing in the Wychwood Forest to a prosperous market town. There’s always something going on, including an annual beer festival, live music in the local pubs, guided walks, summer festivals including the Wilderness Festival at Cornbury Park, cricket matches and Morris dancing teams. This is also an ideal location for walking and cycling, with the Oxfordshire Way encircling the town.

The charming Brunel railway station, less than ½ mile from The Cottage at Long Meadow, has direct trains to Oxford and London. Only 15 miles away is the university city of Oxford, and other historic towns worth visiting include Woodstock, Burford and Chipping Norton. A little further afield is Stow-on-the-Wold, Bicester, famous for its shopping village, and Regency Cheltenham, where the annual Cheltenham Festival takes place. Everything about the holiday was superb the cottage exceeded our expectations. Sue and Chris are excellent hosts the welcome pack was lovely including a sample of the local beer which my husband would thoroughly recommend. The property is ideally situated for touring the Cotswolds providing a welcome haven at the end of a hectic day of sightseeing/walking. There are several local pubs three within walking distance but as the weather was glorious we enjoyed sitting on the patio enjoying the time at the wisteria clad picture postcard cottage. The property is beautifully appointed with all fixtures and fittings of an excellent standard. We are looking forward to returning.

We had a lovely, relaxing break. Lovely comfy sofa and bed. Very cosy with the wood burning stove. The prosecco and goodies were much appreciated. The raspberry jam was superb. Very peaceful setting despite being so close to amenities. Good food to be had at The Bell and The Bull. Convenient location for visiting Bourton on the Water, Woodstock, Whitney and Oxford. Interesting museum at Woodstock. The owner Sue was very friendly and helpful.

Lovely cottage, set in a wonderful location. Ideal for visiting Oxford and towns and villages of the Cotswolds. Great for walks in the surrounding countryside with excellent pubs in the village of Charlbury. Sue and Chris were helpful and kind, the welcome pack was very generous. The offer of more wood for the fire was greatly received on one of the coldest weekends of the year. Definitely recommend and looking forward to returning to the cottage.
