Nestling in the Evenlode Valley, Charlbury is a vibrant yet picturesque, unspoilt Oxfordshire town which grew from a small clearing in the Wychwood Forest to a prosperous market town. There’s always something going on, including an annual beer festival, live music in the local pubs, guided walks, cricket matches and Morris dancing teams. Local summer festivals, include the vibrant and ever growing Wilderness Festival at Cornbury Park, which is within walking distance, and falls on the first weekend in August from Thursday to Sunday. Other festivals include The Big Feastival in Kingham, held on August bank holiday weekend, and Cheltenham Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse in March. This is also an ideal location for walking and cycling, with the Oxfordshire Way encircling the town.
The charming Brunel railway station, less than ½ mile from The Cottage at Long Meadow, has direct trains to Oxford and London. Only 15 miles away is the university city of Oxford, and other historic towns worth visiting include Woodstock, Burford and Chipping Norton. A little further afield is Stow-on-the-Wold, Bicester, famous for its shopping village, and Regency Cheltenham. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
