Description

In a brilliant location for exploring, there are plenty of nearby attractions ranging from Glastonbury to the Fleet Air Museum.

This former hayloft barn dates back to the 17th century, is attached to the owners’ farmhouse, and is conveniently situated just off the A39, approximately 2 miles from the centre of Glastonbury. This comfortable holiday cottage has been restored and renovated to a good standard, keeping much of its original charm and character with exposed stone walls and a flagstone floor in the kitchen. The pretty garden has a river running just behind the hedge, and a national cycle path and footpath pass through the grounds. There are many interesting attractions and places to visit nearby including Glastonbury which is well known for its King Arthur legends, the Tor, the Abbey and the annual music festival. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace. Wookey Hole has spectacular show caves and family attractions, and Cheddar Gorge is Britain’s grandest limestone ravine, carved through the Mendips. Enjoy a nostalgic trip into the age of steam on the West Somerset railway; and the Fleet Air Museum has Europe’s largest naval collection of aircraft. The coastal resorts of Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare are an easy drive away, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin, both with en-suite shower room and toilet.

Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Freezer. Wi-fi. Small lawned garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (2 cars). Cycle store. Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: River in garden, 100 yards.

The Cottage was very well equipped, evan a cool bag and ice blocks to use. Various condiments to use if needed. Very comfortable and well located to explore Glastonbury, Wells, Street, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, we even got to Poole for Brownsea Island. Great place to stay.

This was our first visit to the area and the cottage was in an ideal position for visiting places in the area. The change in the weather was a bonus as it allowed us to roam near and far without getting wet!! We will definitely be back.

The Cottage was comfortable and easy to live in, very well equipped. Good lighting throughout and super wifi. Owner was most helpful but not intrusive. The Cottage is on a main road but not a problem for us. Great base for touring the area. We would highly recommend this property, however we would like to be based in a village next time.

This is a lovely cottage, both pretty and comfortably furnished. Two particularly good points were; the lighting in the sitting room was good enough to read by (too often it is rather poor); and the en suites were spacious and did not feel like cupboards with loo, shower and washbasin squeezed in as the frequently do. The only slight drawback is the location on a main road, OK in September when the windows are shut, but definitely not a place to wander out onto. You do have to get the car out even if you just want a pint of milk. The paths mentioned in the description proved impossible to access. We would certainly like to return however to such a tastefully decorated and comfortable place.

We had a fantastic time at The Cottage in August. I booked it fairly last minute with no idea of the local area and was pleasantly surprised with how much there was to see and do nearby. We loved Glastonbury town centre and all it's unusual shops and pubs and Glastonbury Abbey is beautiful. There is also Wookey Hole caves and Clarks Village is only a few miles drive away for great shopping. The cottage is easily accessible as it's on the main road but you don't notice this much once inside... there is a lovely view of the garden and countryside and the cottage itself is lovely with everything you need. We had such a good time that we will absolutely book a stay here gain.
