The Cottage was easy to find with parking for one car, there is a lovely outdoor patio area and garden. The kitchen is spacious with a medium fridge freezer (big enough for a weeks shop for 4 people). The main bedroom is spacious with a comfortable bed and has a lovely ensuite with a good shower, the second bedroom was also comfortable but apparently warm, we didn't use the third bedroom with a single bed but it was clean and tidy. The front room was the main issue, the room didn't feel aired and both sofas were damp to sit on, overall the property felt a little unloved. The lack of an information folder meant that we didn't know how the central heating system worked and the wood burner might be lovely in winter but in summer wasn't really a practical way to resolve the damp sofas (we did attempt on one evening but it wasn't a great success). We also needed to put out the recycling on the week we were there which wasn't collected and there wasn't any details of who to contact in this event. We needed to hire the towels (due to lack of space in our car) and paid for what were quite grubby (and in one instance unpleasant) towels. There wasn't a welcome pack as such, just a pint of milk, but others in the visitors book indicated that their welcome pack was well received. Some of the kitchen utensils and crockery needed a good clean. Overall the cottage was nice, but the front room let it down.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am sorry the cottage did not meet your expectations. I am at a loss to explain the damp sofas as the cottage had been occupied for the previous 2 months, even in mid-winter I have never had this problem. I am so sorry about the towels and if you had informed me straight away I could have replaced them immediately. The house instruction folders were in the dresser in the kitchen and I am so sorry you didn't ring me with your concerns at the time.

The cottage itself is fantastic, well equipped, nicely furnished, clean and super warm. The only downside is the walk into Fowey from the cottage. It's not too far but it is down the busy main route into and from the town and, although classed as a lane, since there is no pavement it is dangerous IMO especially at night. Parking and driving in Fowey is too be avoided so walking there is necessary. However, once there, Fowey is fab with some great walks, pubs and restaurants.

We had a great time at The Cottage. It's very well equipped and comfortable. There is everything you need in the house. It is a bit of a walk into town along a road although we walked into town every day at least once with the kids. I would say this property is only suited to someone able bodied as it is a good 10 minute walk (uphill on the way back) into Fowey.
