The cottage is clean, comfortable, and particularly well-equipped, especially in the kitchen that has a good range of good quality cooking resources, including sharp knives, plates of all sizes, and there is a radio in the kitchen area. The conservatory catches the sun from mid morning onward and is a great space for relaxing. The cottage is ideal for families, as there is a range of toys, games, and children's books, as well as large TV and DVD player, with a good range of films, for both adults and children, to view. The beds are comfortable, and the village, Whorlton, is a quiet, peaceful and friendly place, with walks directly from the cottage, or within easy driving distance. The Tee Valley is a relatively unknown part of northern Britain, and certainly deserves to be 'discovered' - the walks along the upper Tees valley are beautiful. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and will return. There are only two drawbacks - and the second of these may not be for some; it certainly wasn't for us. The first are the low beams in the upper bedroom - a tall person will have to watch their head; the second is absence of internet connection in the cottage, although their is an adequate signal for the more up to date smartphones. The cottage is also a very convenient point for visiting other nearby towns, obviously Barnard's Castle, but also Richmond, Leyburn, and Darlington; York &Harrogate are only an hour's drive away, too.

Great little village cottage. Perfect location for our visit. Comfy, homely feel, kitchen has all you need for a family get together. The lambs in the field coming up to the conservatory was a lovely addition to our stay. The owner was extremely nice and helpful.

We had a lovely stay here for my mothers 90th birthday. For this the downstairs bedroom and bathroom with walk in shower was a must as Mum can't climb stairs. The cottage was spacious and cozy, fully equipped with everything you could need other than a phone or internet. Some people love that is absent in order to "Get away from it all" but for me it was a drawback as I am used to researching thinks to do, routes etc on the internet and my mobile phone signal was non existent so I felt a bit cut off. The cottage is in a lovely quiet village with walks from the doorstep and easy access to so many wonderful areas and places of interest we hope to come back. The local pub (Less than 100 meters away with WI-Fi!)The Furnavilles Rest does great food and was very welcoming and helpful, the landlord sorting me out a bag of logs for our stay in a wintry February. My low local amenities score is purely down to the fact that there is nothing else in the village, meaning that you need to get into the car to shop etc. However Barnard Castle is only 3 miles away so this really is not an issue unless you have had too many pints of Furnalilles Best!
