Excellent cosy little cottage for base. Everything you need already waiting for you. Fab views of Kendal countryside. Need a car to travel into Kendal (4 minute drive) for shopping as no local shops as quite rural, however, this is what is appealing. Sleeps 4 with sofa bed but would be a squeeze with 4 adults. Hosts were lovely and friendly but left you to it and were available if needed. Windermere about 20 minutes drive.

My parents had stayed here twice, so we had a good idea of what character, and what a good location it was. Both as a base to explore the Lakes from, and as a setting to relax in. Views to the back of the land, so fields, animals, flowers and sunsets. No roads - bliss! Only thing I would say is with 2 teenagers, we struggled. 1 sleeps alot with the light on, the rest of us in complete darkness. Airbed (we took) upstairs for 1 meant adults kept awake by sweaky tossing and turning. Bed settee smaller than a normal double. Perfectly fine for 2 couples, or smaller children. But even the lack of quality sleep did not diminish what was a wonderful holiday

The coach house was a good size for 2 people maybe + 2 children but not 4 adults, it was very clean if a bit dated. It had everything you needed to enjoy a self catering break in a quieting location, the only negative was the curtains allowed too much light into the bedroom at night which meant as we had very good weather the sun was up very early streaming into the room, but apart from this it was comfortable. You could hear the road traffic at night. We were left to our own devices by the Host once he had explained the operation of the cottage which was great even though they lived next door. It is a great base to explore the lake district with all that it has to offer, you have easy access to shops during your stay with a Morrison's & Aldi 1.5 miles down the road, parking was good maybe a bit thought for a car but we were on a mot o recycle tour so no problem. The views were fantastic looking out over the mountains of Scarfel & Helvelyn, there is garden to use with loungers. On the whole a very nice place to stay.

Lovely location away from the rush of tourist areas. Although a short drive to the lakes etc. Supermarkets down the road were handy.
