An ideal base for the outdoor enthusiast, with cycling and walking to be found in the beautiful Calderdale Valley.

Located in the Calderdale Valley, this detached, former coach house lies within the grounds of Brian Royd Hall, and has been sympathetically furnished retaining many original features, then complemented and enhanced by every day luxuries such as underfloor heating. This holiday property, adjacent to the owner’s home, offers stunning views over the surrounding West Yorkshire countryside, and is close to the villages of Greetland, Barkisland and Ripponden with their variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. There is also a choice of golf courses nearby. Sowerby Bridge train station is just 2 miles away, and the Calderdale railway line passes through a variety of West Yorkshire towns and villages, including Hebden Bridge and Halifax, as well as offering direct services to the major tourist attractions of Manchester and Leeds. Ideally located for exploring the Brontë Country, there is also Eureka! The National Children’s Museum (for big and little kids), which can be reached in about 10 minutes, Shibden Estate with its park and hall in 15 minutes and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with its modern and contemporary art in around half an hour. For outdoor enthusiasts, Calderdale has notoriously hilly terrain for keen cyclists, but it also offers excellent riding for families in the form of the National Cycle Network Route 66, a flat cycle route that follows the valley floor from Walsden to Brighouse. Visitors can also get involved with Sky Ride Local, which offers free rides by a qualified guide across Calderdale. For those however who prefer to stay on two feet, there is the circular Calderdale Way, which is a long-distance footpath incorporating moorland, woodland paths and canal towpath. This can be accessed at Clay House in West Vale, which is just 1 mile from this beautiful cottage. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 1/2 mile.

    I had to last minute book due to a family bereavement & stay till just before Christmas. I’d bn on holiday prior so wasn’t really prepared for Christmas. The owner & family were brilliant, so considerate of my situation, I can’t thank them enough & knowing I wouldn’t be getting much of a Christmas had decorated the cottage, which lifted my spirits. The cottage is beautiful & has everything you need. I had to bring my dogs & the huge garden was like a park for them. The walks surrounding are breathtaking, you have shops & great pubs a stones throw away. The local farm shop is a must see. It’s set back away from the road so you get a lovely quiet nights sleep in the comfy bed.

    Very tastefully renovated and considerate of holidaymakers' needs. Well suited for exploring west Yorkshire close to the M62 but quiet and rural at the same time. My only issue is that it would be difficult for people with mobility limitations as outside is cobbled and quite steep. It is compact and the living/ eating area is not overly ample. However weather permitting eating outside provides more than satisfactory compensation in that regard.

    A really comfortable, well appointed cottage with an excellent host and perfect welcome pack..... we’ll be back.
