Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Relax with a glass of wine in the garden of this converted barn, and enjoy beautiful views towards the Quantocks and Exmoor National Park.

In a great country location on the Devon Somerset border, in the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and nestling under Wellingtons Monument, this semi-detached barn conversion has far reaching views. Next to the owners’ home, this is an excellent property for relaxing in and getting away from it all, but it is near enough to visit some lovely family attractions.
Within easy driving distance, take the children to Diggerland for buckets of fun, or take a horse-drawn barge trip along the Tiverton Canal. Visit Taunton, the county town of Somerset, taking in its museum and castle, or enjoy a trip back in time on the West Somerset steam railway, which travels through the Quantocks and along the Exmoor coast to Minehead.
On your doorstep, you will find much to enjoy in the Blackdown Hills, perhaps a country walk from the property up to the Wellington Monument. Wellington has two supermarkets which will deliver groceries if needed, and there are good takeaways and restaurants in Wellington. Park Farm is adjacent to a bridleway, which offers great walking and cycle routes through the Neroche Forest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Park farm also offers clay pigeon shooting tuition with Abbey Ling, a twice Olympic Medal winner, horse riding and hacking at the Heazle Arena with indoor training arena. There is also archery and rifle target tuition with fully qualified instructors, all of which above must be booked in advance. Guided deer and wildlife photo stalking in the Blackdown Hills and Neroche Forest can also be arranged. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

A last minute disaster lead us to changing our booking to The Cider Barn...and I'm extremely glad we did. So handy for the motorway after a long journey yet really secluded and quiet. The central location opens up a huge variety of opportunities from horse drawn canal boats, stately homes and gardens, steam trains to the north coast and trips to the channel coast. The cottage is fully equipped to meet every single need, especially with the advantage of a disabled friendly downstairs wetroom. Owners Jo and John could not have been more welcoming and helpful. So many thanks Jo for everything!

Great location for an out of the way peaceful holiday but ideally situated for local amenities (Wellington), and a good base for further afield with the close proximity of the M5 Motorway. Looking forward to returning.

The cottage was very well equipped and the welcome pack was great. The hosts were very welcoming and could not do enough for you. If you want to enjoy peace and quiet then this is the cottage for you. We enjoyed the expansive beds and the wet room. The only negative was the actual isolation so be prepared for a twenty minute drive to the nearest shops. This was the only negative we found and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

The Cider barn is a delightfull cottage and although there were only two of us it will accomodate six people with ease. The welcome was excellent including a few essential groceries as well as tea and coffee. There is a very pleasant walk up the hill to the Wellington monument from the front door; waterproof boots(Wellingtons) may be advised in wet weather! The view from the cottage across to the Quantocks and Brendon Hills is delightfull.
