Rural countryside / Working farm

Rural countryside / Working farm

These four barn conversions are set on a delightful working farm in a wonderful position overlooking the River Torridge, the Iron Bridge, and further down river towards Bideford. The barn conversions offer comfortable accommodation for various size parties and are suitable for a holiday at any time of year.
The farm nestles at the end of a long private driveway and offers total peace and seclusion in the Devon countryside; there are 200 acres of farmland with garden furniture and barbecue, as well as some lovely woodland walks around the farm itself, and the nearby Tarka Trail close to the farm.
Just 2 miles from the historic market town of Bideford with its wealth of popular pubs, shops and restaurants, and a little further afield is Barnstaple with a wide variety of facilities. Just a short drive takes you to Westward Ho! with its 2 miles of golden sandy beach. Other attractions include Dartington Crystal and RHS Rosemoor Gardens. Horse riding, golf and fishing can all be found within 5 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants 2 miles.

The cottage was lovely, warm, inviting and had all the amenities you could ask for. We were stuck though as neither myself or my husband could drive whilst there and so we only managed to walk around the farm whilst there. We didn't have a mible and the WiFi signal was very unpredictable. This meant we had to talk to each other!! :-)

We tend to believe what is in the brochure but alas we were wrong to do so. No 1 bar be que one throw away No 2 wifi not a chance No3 working farm WRONG No4 well equipped kitchen there was not 1 pan for the oven and 3 small saucepans leaking taps and toilet the list is endless

Response on behalf of the owner: We are very sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay with us, I wish that you had spoken to us while you were here so we could do something about it, we live next door and you had both my home number and mobile, we would have been more than happy to deal with any issues that you had. If I may address the issues you listed, we have a gas BBQ, it is not left out as the weather has been bad, if you had asked we would have brought it down for you. The broadband in the cottage does work, the tv is an internet ready tv and works, I can’t speak for your issues as I had no opportunity to help you. I don’t know what you consider a working farm but can I assure you this is a farm and we do work, hard, do we milk cows? No but we have bullocks on the farm, a few chickens and 200 acres of land to look after. Most people find the kitchen well equipped, if there are things they need that aren’t down there they tend to ask and we provide them, again, if you had communicated with us AT ALL we could have overcome most of your issues, there were no dripping taps when I cleaned the cottage on Friday so I can’t comment on that at all. I just wish you had spoken to us so we could have tried to make your stay more to your liking.

We had a fabulous holiday in north Devon. This barn conversion on a working farm was just gorgeous. The views were amazing and the barn was so comfortable and cosy. We enjoyed going for evening walks and watching the sunset. An amazing place, a real gem!

Lovely cottage and in the middle of no where. Wifi didnt work the whole week. Very peaceful break but beware you need to drive out everyday as unable to walk to any amenities.

For a relaxing holiday, a stunning landscape, and freedom to roam the farm, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A welcome pack including scones, jam and cream was really appreciated. We will definitely recommend this cottage to friends and relatives.
