Friendly owners showed us around. Cottage on busy road but easy to park and not noisy. Magic small garden lovely when sun shines through. Lovely and warm and comfortable. Shops about 5mins away. Use telegraph pole as a guide to where the entrance gate is.

The Byre was a nice cottage in a good location. The nearest shops (Tesco, Sainsbury etc) are only about a 5-minute drive away, and other places to visit are also not very far away. Beamish museum is about a 30-minute drive, Durham city was about 20-minutes to the very efficient park and ride. We stayed there as a family of three plus a dog, teenage daughter had the mezzanine floor up the steep quirky stairs, whilst us "older" people stayed downstairs! Nice little fully enclosed garden to the rear, catches the morning sunshine.

We had a wonderful time at the Byre, doing all we wanted to in comfort and privacy. We hope to return in the future. A big thank you to the owner for making us feel so very welcome.

Warm welcome from the owners who were friendly but not at all intrusive. The cottage was like a home away from home with a lovely garden which was much appreciated by ourselves and our dog

This cottage is a surprize when you walk in as from the outside it looks small but then its a bit like the "tardis". It was lovely and warm and the rear garden was a pleasure to view. The owners were friendly but not intrusive. We are hoping to book next year but leave our dog at home so we can sight see more things.
