Description

Charming cottage in glorious countryside, with wood burner and hot tub, walks from the door over countryside and woodland.

Nestling in an elevated setting on a hillside farm and surrounded by stunning scenery across Sabden Valley towards Pendle Hill in the beautiful Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Approached along a well maintained farm track, The Boskins dates back to the 1700s and has been converted to offer a charming holiday cottage, nestled in an elevated setting on a hillside farm. The sheep and lambs in the spring graze the fields with walks directly from the cottage across countryside and woodland. The area offers plenty of opportunity for enjoyment such as walking and cycling, Pendle Ski Club dry slopes and the challenge of Pendle Hill is just a few minutes away. The village of Sabden is less than a mile away where there is a general store, pubs and a tea room. Clitheroe has an impressive ancient castle and the village of Whalley a historic abbey. Both offer individual shops and quality restaurants within a 10-minute drive. The market towns of Settle and Skipton, the Yorkshire Dales, Lakes and West Coast are within easy driving distance. Shop and pub 1 mile, restaurant 3 miles.

This is a lovely cottage in a great location. The cottage suffers from poor maintenance in particular upstairs. The main bedroom door is hard to open if it is shut. It took several turns of the handle to open it. Broken window in main bedroom and the floorboards are very noisy. If someone gets up during the night everyone will be awake. The bathroom door wont stay closed and opens on its own especially if windows are open. The only thing heavy enough to keep it closed is the shaving mirror. The shower head is held up by an elastic band. The cottage has everything you would need apart from your own food its a shame the maintenance lets it down.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; These guests didn't make us aware of any of these issues, they stayed for one night then left without telling us. They phoned when they were home to say that they had left because the farm track was inaccessible to the lady's mobility scooter, and that they had made a mistake booking our property. I find it odd that they have left this negative review for completely different reasons.
