Description

Close to the beach and a great base for exploring the area and its connections to the famous Battle of Hastings in 1066.

This well presented, detached family home, with exclusive use of a hot tub, is situated 3 miles from the beach, making it an excellent base for exploring 1066 country. The master bedroom has a small balcony from where you can rest and relax and enjoy far reaching views.
Hastings’ beach has smooth pebbles and sand at low tide, with lifeguard cover between May and September. Explore the timber framed buildings in the old town, art galleries including The Jerwood, tea rooms and vintage shops. Take the funicular railway to the West Hill and visit the remains of Hastings Castle, built by William, Duke of Normandy, after the 1066 Battle of Hastings. See the Blue Reef Aquarium, explore St Clements Caves located at Smugglers Adventure at West Hill, or watch the fishing boats land the day’s catch and purchase the fresh fish. Alternatively, take a stroll to the nearby Alexander Park with your fishing rod and catch your own supper! Walk along the pier, cycle along the promenade and enjoy the sea air.
Take a day trip to Battle Abbey and the famous Battlefield. Visit Rye, Bodiam Castle and many vineyards offering wine tasting, or a trip back in time on the Kent and East Sussex steam railway. Tunbridge Wells is also worth a visit where you can sample the Chalybeate spring water. There are good rail connections to London for further sightseeing opportunities. Beach 3 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants 600 yards.

Very welcoming, plenty of space inside and outside. The hot tub was a bonus and enjoyed by all.The four main supermarkets were all near by. On arriving the traffic was a concern with the noise but once in the house and in the garden you didn’t hear it unless you were in the front bedroom. We would recommend the boathouse to anybody thinking of visiting East Sussex.

We had a lovely stay at The Boat House. We made great use of the hot tub & beautiful garden. The owner was very helpful & accomodating. The only downside is that the house is situated on a very busy main road. On the Friday evening, there were workmen digging up the road (with loud machinery) until 02.00 am! You could literally feel the house vibrating. It was impossible to sleep. I can only assume that this was due to emergency road repairs rather than a regular occurrence!

Friendly welcome and lovely welcome basket with milk etc awaiting us... Lovely garden and house is spacious - it is well equipped. The only downside was the noise of the road at the busy times of day.

Wow wow wow! What more can I say. We all love it and you went above and beyond for our stay from the welcome basket, fresh milk and eggs and short tour of what works what, where things are and very helpful in-depth booklets.on everything we could of asked and more. Very clean, very comfy beds and very happy children with a boat to play in, games room, hall cupboard full of games and the star which is the hot tub!! Hope to come back again one day and thank you for letting us stay in your amazing boat house.
