Description

This single-storey holiday property is ideally located close to the coast and is perfect for exploring the Yorkshire Heritage Coast and moors.

The Blades is a large bungalow on the outskirts of the coastal town of Redcar and boasts a south facing conservatory, patio and garden area, perfect for chilling after a day of exploring the Yorkshires Heritage Coast or Yorkshire Moors.
Part of the Yorkshire Heritage Coast starts just a mile away, and you can take a stroll from Redcar Beach along to Marske-by-the-Sea, and then head South onto the Cleveland Way and Saltburn, a must for walkers and hikers of all ages.
The bustling town centre of Redcar with a mix of international brands through to local fish and chip shops and tea rooms, is just a mile away. Redcar regularly hosts horse racing, and special events often take place at Kirkleatham Museum in the summer months.
The next resort along the coast is Saltburn-by-the-Sea which itself boasts a picturesque promenade and pier. Saltburn attracts surfers and fishermen as well as those wanting to spend time building sand castles. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink on top of the cliff.
Redcar is just on the edge of the North York Moors National Park so is ideally situated for those who want to sample some of the prettiest countryside in the county, with its hundreds of pubs and restaurants serving home cooked food and a warming welcome in most villages. Take a nostalgic ride on the steam train that chugs its way from Whitby deep into the heart of the North York Moors, ‘Heartbeat’ country and Pickering. Alternatively, explore the many bays and coves along the heritage coast such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay or Staithes. Each has its own historical story of pirates and smuggling.
The harbour town of Whitby is just 20 miles away and is an experience of its own. Home of Whitby Abbey which was made famous by Bram Stoker’s ’Dracula’, cobbled back streets, quirky shops and Whitby harbour. Keep an eye out for the many festivals and events held here each year from a regatta to a Goth festival, or take a sea fishing trip on one of the many tourist boats.
Redcar is served by a great road network which means you can visit attractions such as Lightwater Valley, Flamingo Land or Beamish Museum in a day and be home in time for a relaxing drink in the conservatory or on the patio. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

The Blades is a lovely property which has a beautiful large garden which is perfect for little ones and adults alike! quiet and peaceful surroundings, a well stocked kitchen and utility area, games supplied, Netflix was a hit with my girls, very spacious and comfy rooms. we had a wonderful stay with everything close by and even managed to go to the beach everyday due to the fantastic weather. The family was very comfortable and impressed with the location and comfort of the property and the owner was very helpful with a query we had. there was a good folder with nearby takeaways and leaflets for local attractions and places of interest. The only thing we were a little confused with was the bin system, what we could and could not put in the bins, waste food, recycling etc. as every council is different a little guide may be an idea for those that are conscious of recycling! this is only a minor feedback suggestion Beautiful cottage and would like to return for another holiday in the future.

Only the two of us and the dog so loads of space. Garden is huge. House was warm. It was immaculately clean. Good location for getting to some great local sites. One favourite was the Beamish museum - an outdoor, dog friendly, step back in time. WiFi is decent. And lots of little useful extras around the house: kitchen roll, bin bags, extra toilet rolls. The stuff you often forget to take with you. My personal favourite was the electric reclining chair :)

Lovely bungalow clean and well kept. 5 mins drive to the beach and close to 2 pub/restaurants and mini supermarket. Would have liked better pillows and a summer quilt. The biggest problem we had was the laminated flooring in the hall, kitchen and conservatory, it was not dog friendly and we had to buy some matting to stop the dog from sliding all over the place. Also we had to buy five new light bulbs for the lounge/dining area. However we would stay there again but without the dog.
