The Barn is the perfect choice for those wanting to escape the hustle and bustle and recharge their batteries. This delightful, detached, spacious barn conversion is beautifully presented and sits on the edge of Mary Tavy, with spectacular views over farm and moorland towards the distant sea at Plymouth Sound. Tucked away at the rear of the owner’s farmhouse and smallholding (horses, ponies, chickens, cats, dogs, pigs), and with direct access to the open moor from a side gate, this really is the ideal choice for walkers and nature lovers.

The spacious living room has a cosy wood burner, perfect to curl up beside on a chilly evening, and patio doors lead to a sunny garden with patio area, ideal for a lazy breakfast whilst you plan your day. The area is a haven for wildlife and you can soak up the peace and quiet surrounded by birdsong, and maybe catch site of the nearby roosting owls as the sun sets. There is a pretty bedroom with a super kingsize bed, and the beautiful wet room has a lovely bath to take a soak in at the end of the day.

This is an ideal base from which to explore both Devon and Cornwall. If you can bear to drag yourself away from this delightful location, there is plenty to explore close by. A short drive and you can visit the National Trust’s Lydford Gorge, Buckland Abbey, Cothele House, Saltram House and Castle Drogo. The ancient stannary town of Tavistock is just 3½ miles away and possesses World Heritage status, and has a unique range of beautiful independent boutiques and shops offering amazing locally produced food. The famous pannier market is well worth a visit and there are a good selection of cafés and restaurants. Or why not enjoy an evening at The Wharf watching a wide variety of theatrical productions by local and national theatre groups?

You will be spoilt for choice with great walking and cycling from the doorstep. Dartmoor National Park is the largest and wildest area of open country in the south of England, with ancient woodland, high granite tors and vast tracts of rolling moorland. There are stunning beaches within an easy drive including Looe, Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac, or why not hire a bike and enjoy a day on the nearby Camel Trail which takes you through woodland, disused rail stations and you can take in far-stretching sea views. Golf, fishing and horse riding are all available close by, or why not visit Dartmoor Zoo which inspired the film ’We Bought a Zoo’ or enjoy a day out at the famous Eden Project? Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
