Neighbouring the salt marshes, RSPB bird reserve, and a short walk from the sea, this timber framed detached chalet, with paved area secluded by trellis, is nestled peacefully within the owner’s grounds and is an ideal holiday retreat for walkers and bird watching enthusiasts. Coastal path and Peddars Way offer good walking. Blakeney Quay and Morston, 5 miles, for boat trips to Blakeney Point and the basking seal colony. Wells-next-the-sea, 10 miles for sandy beach and harbour, and beyond, Holkham with pine forest and sandy beach. Georgian town of Holt, 4 miles. Cromer, 9 miles. Sheringham (and its golf course), 6 miles, home of the North Norfolk Steam Railway. Village shop, Crab cafe and pub 300 yards.

    The location was the important factor here. In the cottage itself we felt everything was second-rate plus the fact that the TV did not work. After much fiddling we managed to get one channel. Sorry, but that is our honest opinion.

    Response on behalf of the owner; There is no evidence to our minds of anything ‘second rate’ in our Apple House. It has very recently been completely redecorated throughout - to a high standard. All the equipment works well and is simple to operate. We consider it to be a very charming, individual property. We have not had any previous complaints on the TV and there is a huge number of readily available channels.

    The Apple House's best feature is its position which is ideal for walking and wildlife watching. The cottage is basic but very comfortable, we had a wonderful holiday. Having a pub in easy walking distance with excellent food added to our pleasure. We would have no hesitation in booking again.

    stayed at the apple house april 17 had a superb time. This time midnight on sunday, owner lets himself in, flashing a torch, we were fast asleep and obviously came as an enormous shock. cut our holiday early by 3 nights. as we left early on tues am. a gang of tree fellers arrrived, following the very audible instructions, from owner, the noise was incredible and intimidating to say the least.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; This couple’s experience was very unfortunate. They arrived as scheduled on the Friday afternoon (by foot). Having not seen any evidence of occupation on Sunday - no lights showing in the evening - I had come (wrongly) to the conclusion that they had left the Apple House. I decided late that day to check to make sure it was empty and whether they had left the heating on. I was surprised to find that they were still in occupation, and quickly withdrew apologetically. I was going to warn them of a long arranged tree-felling operation for the Tuesday (my next door neighbours had arranged this). However, the tenant informed me they would be leaving the next day. I saw them leaving by foot with their bags, just after the tree surgeons had arrived, sometime before 10am on the Tuesday morning.

    Another excellent stay at 'The Apple House', where we have stayed many times over recent years. The property suits us down to the ground and the owners, Robert and Susan, always go out of their way to make sure guests are well catered for. There is also an excellent pub for food just a few minutes away along the coast road.

    We had a fantastic holiday at Applehouse....it was just perfect for us! The location is amazing overlooking the salt marshes and sea. Just a stroll to the sea and a great base to explore the coast and Broads. The pub down the road is friendly and serves good food and there's a shop and cafe and fish and chip van too!

    Where should I start . Dog hairs everywhere also in our beds , that's a no no for me. I don't sleep in my bed with dog hairs, sheets haven't been changed they had stains from the people that where there before us as they left on the same day that we got at the place We had to put our towel down to sit on settee . Plate broken and glued together , coffee pot cracked so we had to go buy a coffee pot and we had to buy sheet / duvet covers as we could not sleep in the sheets . I will be sending a full report in a email .

    Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for your feedback. We have since spoken to our caretaker and forwarded to her the relevant comments. The caretaker assures us that the Apple House was of course thoroughly cleaned, and the sheets changed before the guest arrived. She also assures me that they were ironed. We do apologise for the cracked cafetière, which must have been damaged the week before, and not noticed. This will now be replaced. Likewise we apologise for the fruit bowl's damage with its clumsy attempts at repair (presumably hastily mended by the previous tenants). We have no reason to believe that the house smells of dogs, but we accept that the 'Dog Blanket' in this case does retain some hairs, and we have asked the caretaker to be more vigilant in this area. All the items the guest bought were taken away with them. The visitors' comments book almost always has very positive remarks, which do not relate to the very critical ones made by this guest.
