We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Annex. It is in a lovely peaceful village and is a great base to explore the local area. The house is a great size for 2 people and is very comfortable and well equipped with plenty of storage space. There is more than ample room to park a car and it is also nice to have your own outside space to enjoy the lovely weather. We thoroughly recommend the property and would be very happy to stay here again when we return to the area.

The website photos give the impression that you are booking the entire annex building. This is not the case! You will only have access to 50% of the annex as it has been split down the entire length of the building. You only have the 50% that is not shown, not the area show by red cross hash. Parking is a nightmare! Especially when the owners have family visiting, there can be up to 5 cars in drive, not a problem until you get a very large red 4x4 parked behind you. If you have others with you who are vulnerable be aware that the water coming out of the taps are close to boiling. You will also need to make sure the towel rail in the bathroom is turned OFF as it will burn anyone accessing the toilet. The area is VERY restricted! Note that the step from the gravel drive to the accommodation in quite high. The property is very limited on space and with questionable suitability for any other than the most able. If you have a problem with dog poo, think again. The area available for use by front door had a large pile when we arrived and only disappeared after three days.

Response on behalf of the owner; I am concerned by this review. We welcome all visitors and ask them to let us know if there are any problems whilst they are with us. We take great pride in presentation and this can be confirmed from all the other reviews. These guests did not mentions any concerns during our friendly face to face meet. The hot water is hot and required to be mixed with cold, if we lower the temperature other customers may complain. We have not had any other complaints on this subject. Regarding the 50% property size I agree the photos is misleading and so I have asked Cottages.com to change it. One can obviously see from internal photos that there is no bay window from inside, and only shows the rooms you will get. Regarding the parking, no one ever parks in the guests parking area. I agree we had family visit us for half a day and even with the red 4x4 there was still room for the visitor to access his parking space. I specifically checked this and as a driver of many years could see no problem unless you are not a confident driver. The three cars in question left by 6pm, the other two are our own and it's a very big drive as can be seen in the photos. Regarding the towel rail heat, we advise all visitors how to operate the central heating and where to switch the towel rail on. It's supposed to be hot to dry towels. Regarding the bathroom area being restricted, this is a luxury bathroom of normal size and a large double shower. I'm sorry if the guest found it difficult to navigate. Regarding the step, this is shown in the photos and the description states 2 steps to front door. The annex is not cramped, other reviewers have said what a lovely annex it is, just like being at home. This is rated as 3 stars and much cheaper than a five star, so you will not be getting a five bed accommodation as reflected in the price. Regarding the dog poo on the front lawn. The drive is open to a country lane and a dog could have wandered in and left their welcoming card. However I check the grass and garden regularly to see if it needs cutting (twice a week). So I think 3 days is a bit stretched. However they could have rung our door bell and we would have resolved the problem. This review is in stark contrast with our other reviews which we feel give a more balanced view of the property.

I stayed here for six weeks in March and April 2019 while house-hunting. It’s a lovely place to stay, and I felt very relaxed. The accommodation had everything I needed for my extended stay – almost a home-from-home. The hosts are great; very helpful but unobtrusive.

Had a lovely three night stay with my girlfriend over the August bank holiday weekend. The Annex is comfortable, well furnished and like a home a way from home. The cottage is in a perfect location for peace, tranquillity and to generally get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. We found the owners to be very welcoming and friendly, but also able to leave us alone to do our own thing. We would definitely look to book this cottage again if we're in the area.
