The historic market and university town of Lampeter is a couple of miles away in the heart of the Teifi Valley. It was once an important place for 18th century drovers to gather their livestock and is also home to the oldest university in Wales, Trinity St. David, and recognised as the birth place of rugby in Wales. The town has a strong textile tradition and is home to the Welsh Quilt Centre and its many independent shops are a creative hub for makers and crafters. The town is a small and friendly place with a thriving community and plenty of café’s to enjoy coffee and cake! You are very centrally situated for exploring further afield to Pembrokeshire, Snowdonia or even the Brecon Beacons. There are two National Trust sites within a very easy drive; one being the Dolaucothi Gold Mines where you can take and underground tour or pan for gold; and the other is Llanerchaeron, and 18th century estate with an early John Nash villa. North of Lampeter you can drive on to the historic market town of Tregaron and discover the Cors Caron Nature Reserve, a vast area of wetland with an accessible boardwalk over the bog. Drive on a bit further and visit the undiscovered wilderness of the Cambrian Mountains, one of the few really remote areas left in southern Britain. The few roads over the mountains are acknowledged as some of the most scenic routes in Britain. Beach 20 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Semi detached cottage with woodland view and sheep, birds, squirrels, cats and a horse in the fields all around. Not a luxury, cosy cottage more a basic, clean, compact base, Very Well situated. Many attractions within 1/2 hour and Swansea just over 1 hour too. Good WiFi and Co-op 15 mins away. Kitchen well equipped. Lounge requires a lamp and couldn't find a hairdryer. The bathroom macerator gave us plenty of laughs as it sounds like the welsh Dragon roaring randomly at you! Heating set to come on 2x a day for 2/3 hours only with the thermostat under lock and key! Can be amended if you ask but never come across an owner requiring this level of control before. Surely we can be trusted to be sensible? Lovely views to the side, quiet, secluded location. Dog friendly but clean and fresh. Overall a good break.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback we are glad that overall you enjoyed your stay with us. As advertised our cottage has a 3 star rating, we were advised that it is a high level 3/low star 4 so we are disappointed for it to be described in your review as basic. We are glad you enjoyed our high speed Wi-Fi, as we are lucky enough to have fibre to the door the speeds are amazing especially for such a rural setting. We appreciate your comments regarding a lamp in the front room and this is certainly something we will look to supply for future guests, a hairdryer is not something we provide. We had never thought to listen to the macerator in action and no doubt will now have a smile on our faces hearing the roar of the Welsh Dragon. With regards to the heating our views were the same as yours and the heating was initially available to our guests to adjust. Unfortunately not all are familiar with the system to effectively adjust it therefore we adopted the current set up, to set the heating to fulfil the requirements of the majority of our guests adjusting the settings to reflect the time of year. Understandably this does not suit everyone which is why we are clear on guests arrival to explain the heating times and if not requested to adjust them at that time are more than happy to adjust them at a later date, to ensure our guests are comfortable during their stay. Once again thank you for your feedback we are glad you enjoyed your stay in the Welsh countryside.

My daughter and I have had a wonderful week. Didn't want to leave! Sharon and Robert are helpful, friendly and accommodating, the cottage was spotless and the views to die for. Lots of animals - sheep, horses and cats - my dog thought he'd died and gone to heaven. Lovely comfortable beds and the peace and quiet I needed. Definitely going back. So glad we found it.
