Everything was clean and up to date, the decor was nice and a lot of effort had gone into making the small space welcoming. The host's welcome was warm and the hamper much appreciated. Our problem was that the double bed was very small and not comfortable for us so we didn't sleep well. The twin room beds were ok for our kids. The only other criticism was that there were not proper curtains or blinds, just daylight blinds as you have in an office, so in the fine summer weather it was light about 5am and we woke early. I don't think it would be cosy in the winter. It was fine for a short break but a bit cramped for longer or in bad weather. We enjoyed sunshine and our boys loved the games room and having a BBQ. It was convenient for visiting local tourist attractions and less than an hour from the coast.

The lodge is well appointed and the owners very friendly. The location (entrance) can be quite dangerous as there are no footpaths on either side of the road ie. children/dogs/disabled. The ent. is on a sharp bend with bad visibility. The lodge is well equipped and the bedrooms are comfortable. Car Parking is adjacent. Access is level. nb. Our holiday was over the Christmas vacation. The lodge was very damp and the tiled floor in the lounge and kitchen area was 'swimming' with standing water. We tried to remedy this with sheets of newspaper, which did help however, the water returned on our exit. We did not report this to the owner as we do not intend to stay at Owl Lodge in the future.
