Wales Cottages

The Wales Regional Specialist -Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Wales better!

Explore the great outdoors from this single-storey property, with coastal walking, watersports and horse riding all available nearby.

Conveniently situated close to village amenities, it is also just yards from the shores of the Teifi Estuary and the northern end of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The ancient village of St Dogmaels nestles around its ruined Tironian abbey at the mouth of the River Teifi. It boasts a working 16th-century water mill, and holds an award-winning weekly produce market.
The area is justly renowned for its lovely beaches, hidden coves and stunning coastal scenery, and abounds with historic castles, forts and fascinating archaeology. In 2017 the nearby Cardigan Castle won the RICS ’Restoration of the Year’ award, screened on Channel 4, and is well worth a visit. Superb walking is also on offer on the coastal paths of both Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion, as well as the atmospheric Preseli Hills with an extensive local network of footpaths and bridleways. Wildlife in the area is abundant and dolphins, porpoises and seals are often seen from local beaches and coves.
The property itself enjoys distant views of the estuary from the living room and is just 1½ miles from the beautiful Poppit Sands. Golfing and riding are available locally, as well as fishing and watersports such as kayaking and coasteering. Nearby family attractions include Oakwood Theme Park, Bluestones, Folly Farm, Manor Park Zoo and the Welsh Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran. The property is situated a few yards from a bus stop giving easy access to Cardigan, Newport, Fishguard and St Davids. Narberth, Tenby, Aberystwyth, Aberaeron and Newquay are also easily accessible by car. Shop ¾ mile and pub serving food 500 yards.

Lovely bungalow all you need for home from home, great location very peaceful and quiet, view of the estuary was pleasant. Short drive to poppet sands nice for walking our dog. Owners called to see if we had all we needed, Margaret and John were friendly helpful. Scored a 9 on comfort due to the sofas and bed being very low this was problematic for my husband due to arthritis. Garden fully enclosed which was great for our dog, however there is a drop of around 4 foot from the lawn to the patio our dog being small did cause me some concern when she was running around in case she jumped from the wall and injured her legs. This may also cause concern for families with young children, suggestion to Margaret and John - put a small picket fence or plant some shrubs.

Really impressed by this lovely home, we had a fantastic stay and the bungalow had everything you could possibly need + more! There are some great things to do near by, we went dolphin watching on a boat and saw lots of seals when out walking. A little further afield was a train ride - my son loves a steam engine! We had a really great time and would thoroughly recommend.

Stayed at Tawelwch for 2 weeks with Bubba the choccy Lab. it's a beautiful, well kept bungalow. Margaret & John were very helpful from day one. The bungalow was spotless with everything included, including a lovely welcome hamper. The area itself was wonderful and only 5 minutes away from Poppit Beach, which Bubba loved. I fly a drone and it's a beautiful area for photography with lots of places to go. Never once did we travel more than 30 mins to get where we wanted to go...there's just no need. I'll be back again for sure. Wonderful...just wonderful :)

Very pretty, comfortable cottage. Ideal for older people with some mobility problems, although the driveway is extremely steep. Sadly a problem with the heating and hot water, but the couple caring for the property were very quick to get it sorted and most helpful at all times.

Great place to stay, everything was there for comfort except for the bed, it was the hardest that we have ever encounter, so bad that we purchased an air bed from halfords after just one night on it. The two singles in the other bedroom were no better.

Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for your valued feedback, and sorry to hear of your experience with the beds. Whilst not aware of any previous adverse comments from guests, we had already planned to replace the mattresses (with something a little softer!) once current bookings allow. We do hope you will consider visiting again in the future.

Excellent peaceful location. Cottage is one of the best we have stayed in, with lovely view from living room window. Only one small thing, a hook on the bathroom door would be useful. Would recommend the cottage and location.
