Tancrey Cottage is set back from the ancient River Stour in Fordwich. Dating back 800 years, this period property, one of a pair, has been restored to a delightful standard and is decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season. It is surrounded by natural beauty with landscaped gardens and is situated in the smallest recorded town in the UK.
This unique holiday property stands adjacent to the owner’s home and comfortably sleeps up to 5 guests. The compact kitchen and open-plan living/dining room will be the perfect place for any family to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

This is a great location for walks, exploring and for sampling the local ales in one of the two local pubs. Explore the historic city of Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral and learn about Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, or take a boat trip on the River Stour. Cycle the Crab and Winkle Way, visit the coast at Herne Bay or spot a seal and sample the oysters at Whitstable, 9 miles. Another enjoyable experience is to go back in time and explore the castles of Dover, Deal and Walmer. Good train connections to London. Golf 3 miles and beach 9 miles. Shop and pub 200 yards, restaurant 550 yards.

This cottage is perfectly located for a lovely time walking along the River Stour into Canterbury and lots of dog walks from the door which I wanted as I have two dogs. The cottage is thoroughly equipped with everything that you will need, and certainly more, for a comfortable and relaxing break. The back garden is beautifully laid to large lawn and flower beds with the front gravel, parking for 2 cars and a patio area for dining with roses surrounding you. There is a local Co-op for every day essentials and a pub across the road. If you want fine dining there is a Michalin 1 star restaurant around the corner. There is a park and ride just a mile down the road for ease and convenience into Canterbury. The cottage is perfectly suited for trips to the coast.

A well equipped, comfortable cottage. Suited our mixed age group plus dog! Great to have 2 bathrooms. Garden very pretty and well maintained. Also lovely sitting area at the front for enjoying the evening sunshine. Catherine and her husband very helpful

Response on behalf of the Owner; Vielen Dank. What a lovely family you are. We loved having you and I am very grateful that you allowed me to take you around Canterbury on a guided tour. It’s always fun to have guests at Easter and you are just never too old for a good old Easter egg hunt. Chocolate...yum.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely setting with very friendly and welcoming hosts. If you want a holiday where you can relax, sight-see and walk straight from the door, then this could well be a good choice for you! We certainly enjoyed ourselves (both young, old and the dog) and had more than enough to entertain us nearby. The cottage is very well equipped and the beautiful garden is great for sitting out in on a warm afternoon.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Aww... thank you ever so much. I’m so glad a good time was had by all. It’s great to have those two seating areas on either side of the house to enjoy as the sun moves.

The cottage is lovely and Fordwich where the cottage is situated in is truly beautiful. We liked the character of the cottage, underfloor heating on the ground floor and the beautiful garden. Catherine who is the owner was very welcoming and we found it useful that they lives next door. Only negative thing about the cottage was that it was very dark at night on the ground floor (and some places upstairs), so that it was difficult to see, let alone read. I avoided spending time in the lounge at night due to the darkness, which was a shame. The position of the cottage is great. There is a very nice dog friendly pub where we could see from the cottage. Sturry Park and Ride is less than 5 minutes away and getting to Canterbury was very easy and cheap (£3.50). There are some supermarkets 5-10 minutes drive away (depends on traffic) and Co-op is about 10 minutes walk away.

The cottage was delightful - roomy and well-equiped, within a beautiful and interesting setting. There was a very good bus service into Canterbury every 15 minutes, so that we could visit Whilstable and Faversham, travelling by public transport. The history of the town was very interesting and there were good walks around.

Response on behalf of the owner; I am delighted that you had a wonderful stay and I look forward to welcoming you back soon. We are truly spoiled to have so many scenic walks on our doorstep and what a wonderful way to keep in touch with friends - book a cottage and meet up, enjoying good company and food. It was not easy to dissemble that gorgeous puzzle you laid, but I had to as I prepared the cottage for my next guests. Hope to see you all again soon.
