Description

Explore Kent and the historic cathedral city of Canterbury from this period property.

Tancrey Cottage is set back from the ancient River Stour in Fordwich which is not far from the historical cathedral city of Canerbury. Dating back 800 years, this period property, one of a pair, has been restored to a delightful standard and is decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season. It is light and airy with large Georgian style windows and a bay window in the living room allowing the natural light to flood in and visitors can enjoy views out over the garden. Tasteful subtle colours and wooden floors to the ground floor, turning wooden stairs to the first floor, and beams in some of the upstairs rooms all add to the pleasing ambience.
The property is surrounded by natural beauty with large, enclosed, landscaped and lawned gardens for the children to and pets to play. This unique holiday property stands adjacent to the owner’s home, can comfortably sleep up to 7 guests and has access to private woodland. The compact kitchen and open-plan living/dining room will be the perfect place for any family to enjoy a relaxing holiday.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely setting with very friendly and welcoming hosts. If you want a holiday where you can relax, sight-see and walk straight from the door, then this could well be a good choice for you! We certainly enjoyed ourselves (both young, old and the dog) and had more than enough to entertain us nearby. The cottage is very well equipped and the beautiful garden is great for sitting out in on a warm afternoon.

The cottage is lovely and Fordwich where the cottage is situated in is truly beautiful. We liked the character of the cottage, underfloor heating on the ground floor and the beautiful garden. Catherine who is the owner was very welcoming and we found it useful that they lives next door. Only negative thing about the cottage was that it was very dark at night on the ground floor (and some places upstairs), so that it was difficult to see, let alone read. I avoided spending time in the lounge at night due to the darkness, which was a shame. The position of the cottage is great. There is a very nice dog friendly pub where we could see from the cottage. Sturry Park and Ride is less than 5 minutes away and getting to Canterbury was very easy and cheap (£3.50). There are some supermarkets 5-10 minutes drive away (depends on traffic) and Co-op is about 10 minutes walk away.

The cottage was delightful - roomy and well-equiped, within a beautiful and interesting setting. There was a very good bus service into Canterbury every 15 minutes, so that we could visit Whilstable and Faversham, travelling by public transport. The history of the town was very interesting and there were good walks around.

Response on behalf of the owner; I am delighted that you had a wonderful stay and I look forward to welcoming you back soon. We are truly spoiled to have so many scenic walks on our doorstep and what a wonderful way to keep in touch with friends - book a cottage and meet up, enjoying good company and food. It was not easy to dissemble that gorgeous puzzle you laid, but I had to as I prepared the cottage for my next guests. Hope to see you all again soon.
