On the Devon/Cornwall border at the historic Tamar Bridge, this detached barn is perfectly located for walking, mountain biking and tree surfing nearby.

Sitting on the Devon side of the border in the parish of Gulworthy, Tamar Barn is located just above the river at the scheduled ancient monument, Tamar Bridge (built 1520) crossing into Cornwall at Gunnislake. The Tamar Valley is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are many delightful areas to see and explore. Tamar Barn is a detached, converted stone building, which lies adjacent to the owners’ home and has a patio area and enclosed garden for children and dogs to enjoy. Gunnislake has a good range of local shops and pubs, as well as the benefit of a railway station linking you to Plymouth and bus service to Tavistock and Liskeard. Nearby, the Tamar Trails Centre offers a wide range of outdoor activities including walking, mountain biking, archery and high wire tree surfing. Other highlights in the area include the historic mining port of Morwellham Quay and a boat trip down the River Tamar from the pretty village of Calstock. Tavistock has an active local market, and there is access up onto Dartmoor National Park from there. At Plymouth you can stroll across The Hoe or visit the National Aquarium. The coast at both Devon and Cornwall are accessible (beaches 16 miles) and the international golf resort of St Mellion is 15 minutes away. The renowned Horn of Plenty is only ten minutes walk away and offers quality dining. Beach 16 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants 500 yards.

    The only reason i couldnt give it a 10 was the small leak seaping through the roof in the living area, over all it was exactly what we needed if this place ever goes up for long term rent make sure im the first to know ! Seriously value for money is just incredible

    The drive entrance needs some attention, a sign would of helped and very hard to find in the dark. Nice accommodation, comfortable bed, nice warm kitchen but living room was very chilly, yes, it's got underfloor heating but that took ages to heat up, yes, it's got a log burner but if you come in later in the evening it wasn't worth burning fuel. The water system for showers took ages to get hot as did the hot water. Please accept our constructive criticism as positive way forward. Overall nice barn and thank you for letting us stay there Kath & Dave

    Fantastic barn, lovey owners, well worth the money we paid, it was almost a shame it was not cold enough to use the log burner because that would of been really Cosy. Can’t fault the barn at all.

    Cottage was really comfortable. And would be great for people without dogs. But the road outside was really busy and noisy from early morning till late at night not what I expected. Also it was supposed to be dog friendly ,fine if you have a large dog. But our dog couldn't be in the garden unless we were with him as there were many escape routes ,under gates. Also couldn't let him out the front for the same reasons. No real dog walking on the doorstep as you had to take your life in your hands and walk a short distance on the road.

    We had a lovely comfortable break at the barn. The Barn was very cosy and clean and perfect for us and our dog! The property was very safe for the dog and the location is easy access to both Devon and Cornwall with lovely walks and great country surroundings 😀
