Description

This is a great property for that relaxing break in Scotland, ideally located for exploring the beautiful scenery of the Isle of Skye.

Taigh Chirsty is a traditional crofters cottage, sympathetically renovated keeping many of the original features, offering home from home comforts and in an enviable location overlooking Loch Harport. Situated within the peaceful, scattered crofting community of Minginish, close to where the Cuillin Mountains can be found. This hugely impressive mountain range is the spiritual heartland of the island. Eagles are frequently seen in this area, resident hares, roe deer, otters and so much more in the way of wildlife. Talisker distillery, Skye’s only distillery, and an inn, which serves food all day and has regular live music, are only a short drive away. The walking is superb for all levels. Talisker Bay, Glenbrittle Beach, Fairy Pools and the Cuillin Mountains for the experienced climbers and so much more. A trip to Dunvegan Castle and the coral beach, Neist Point Lighthouse or the beautiful Waternish Peninsula are easily reached on the west side of the island. Take a sea trip from Portree to see the varied sea and bird life and also enjoy the beauty of the rugged coastline. To the north of Portree, is the Trotternish Peninsula, which boasts some of Skye’s most stunning scenery. To the south of the island is Broadford, where you will find ‘the garden of Skye’. Here you can visit the ruins of Armadale Castle and its lovely gardens. It is a good base to explore all parts of the Island which has so much to offer for the outdoor enthusiast including hill walking, fishing, boat trips, kayaking, pony trekking as well as the opportunity to discover the many craft/art galleries and restaurants for a more relaxing time and to be awestruck by the dramatic scenery. We absolutely loved our holiday in this cottage, great location. There is a pub/restaurant which does great food one mile from the cottage and another one 4 miles away, but if your a walker it’s enjoyable on a nice evening. There is a small shop in the village, very handy.

Lovely cottage in a great location with splendid views over the loch. Very cosy, well- equipped kitchen, 3 deceptively large bedrooms and 2 shower rooms. Ideal central location on Skye which made it easy to explore north and south. Enjoyed reading about the house history and we appreciated the phone call from owner about potholes on the way to the cottage. All in all, would highly recommend the cottage.

Beautiful, warm, welcoming. Stunning views, well laid out cottage. However, I booked as it stated 500yds to shoreline as my husband and two youngest sons are disabled. It is not! It is more like a 500m walk along the road to a sign directing you down a very steep hill some 700m to the shore. So, unfortunately, we wouldn't book again for this reason only.

We have had a wonderful time with our 3 kids in this nice little cottage. The only improvement proposal would be to install a simple fence to the road side. There is little traffic and we have watched the kids outside all the time. However it allow to relax more if sitting outside in the garden.
