Only really met a couple of people but they were very kind helpful and friendly. There was a young lady working at the farm as an apprentice. She was a credit to the farm. Very kind and helpful. She obviously cared for the work she did.

Good place to stay if you don’t want to be in the busy towns nearby. Lodge was ideal for us. Good location

A Welcome pack would have been a nice touch, unusual not to have at least a pint of milk tea and coffee, pots and pans have seen better days, but the China and glass was really good, also a lack of cleaning products, again unusual not to have enough to see us through a couple of days Internet was very poor if we got online for 10 minutes we felt lucky, so not able to look up places of interest or maps, but to give the owner and her daughter their due they tried hard to get it put right, and that only happened the last two days of our holiday, On a brighter note we found the furniture and beds were very good, and bed linen was fresh and bright, Lots of hot water all though I feel the system needs attention as the shower head leaked every time we turned on a tap, and could be very noisy, The heating was very good but not needed much as we had very good weather Overall we were comfortable and really enjoyed our holiday, But do not feel we would visit Swinsty Lodge again .

We were really disappointed. Expensive for what it is. Many plastic and dust under the beds and at the lights. Cleaning has to be done under all the beds.. And it's not a house, more a caravan and the smell outside is not nice.

Very clean with good facilities and loads of things to go out and view in the local area. Leaflets were very helpful. It’s a shame however that you are situated by a main road with very few places to walk dogs without travelling. Rules on dogs we felt were a little strict and could have allowed for a little more freedom, however we appreciate it was a working farm so obvious worry about dogs with the livestock. Maybe lead rules were needed rather than being so strict.

2nd time we have been to this accommodation, it remains a nice base to see the South York Dales area from. Overall the accommodation was comfortable, but it is starting to look a little ‘tired’ in places, (tatty garden furniture, noisy plumbing) and the kitchen was sparsely equipped. Still, was good value for money generally and would recommend it.

The lodge itself was very clean, comfortable and warm. Having paid an additional fee to bring our dog we were disappointed to find a strictly worded notice about pets, saying that all damage must be paid for AND threatening a specified fine if he was left in the lodge unattended! Ours is an old quiet dog who sleeps a lot and has never caused a problem in cottages before. We did make use of the owner's day care facility once at a reasonable charge which was fine, but it would have been nice if a day's stay could have been included in the additional fee perhaps. We were also disappointed that there were no walks from the lodge which is just off a main road, and the garden had open fencing. To be fair to the owners, an enclosed garden was not listed as a feature, but this is not a particularly pet friendly place! The only nearby pubs are impossible to walk to as there are no footpaths along the main road. The lodge is advertised as being on a working farm, and is close to a pig unit. The smell has been mentioned in other reviews, and was very invasive on some days, making it unpleasant to open windows or sit outside. Beyond the lodge the area is lovely with many places to visit.

The lodge is fantastic. A wonderful level of detail, especially the kitchen. Andrea was extremely helpful and a super hostess. I loved the fact it is on a working farm and out in the lovely Yorkshire countryside (hence the local amenities score). I was in the Harrogate area for work and it felt like home when coming back in the evening. I was also checking it out for future visits with my dog and hope to be back.

The lodge was lovely, with most things that we needed. Very clean and very warm. Unfortunately, we had very strong winds during our stay and the trees surrounding the lodge kept us awake with the noise. We had our two dogs and found it difficult to walk them out as there was nowhere nearby. To get to the walking pathways, meant a walk along the very busy main road. Generally, in spite of the weather, we enjoyed the stay.

The website pics don't do the lodge justice. A real home from home in a stunning setting. Fixtures and fittings of a high standard.
